<p>He told lottery officials that he plans to use the money to invest and cover his bills</p>
<p>A North Carolina man's lottery intuition just paid off big time!</p>
<p>On Friday, July 11, Ricky Nunnery Jr. from Sanford became the first winner of a $1 million top prize in the state's new lottery game, officials said in a news release.</p>
<p>Nunnery said that his lottery story began after he had a dream "that I would hit big on the lottery." Choosing to listen to that dream, Nunnery went out and bought the lucky $10 ticket at a local Wink Mart gas station.</p>
<p>"Something just told me to play," he told lottery officials.</p>
<p>When he arrived at lottery headquarters last week to claim his prize, Nunnery said that he chose to receive the prize as a lump sum of $600,000. The other option? An annuity of $50,000 over 20 years.</p>
<p>After all the required state and federal taxes, he ended up going home with $430,503.</p>
<p>"I'm tickled to death with this," Nunnery said, adding that he plans to use the money to invest and cover his bills.</p>

<p>Other North Carolina lottery players could soon find themselves in luck too — four $1 million top prizes still have not been claimed in the $1,000,000 Triple Play game, which debuted in June, according to lottery officials.</p>
