South Park fans are in for a shock the next time they try to watch the show on Paramount+ — because almost every episode of the series has been removed from the streaming service.

The long-running Comedy Central series has had a partnership with Paramount+ for years, but according to ComicBook.com, all prior seasons of the show have been removed. While certain specials and the movie, South Park: Bigger Longer, & Uncut, still remain, it appears other episodes are gone for good.

In a statement, Paramount addressed fans who were upset regarding the decision to remove the show from the platform.

"We understand your frustration. Unfortunately, South Park has come to the end of the window in which we have the rights to carry it on Paramount+ which is why it has now had to come down from the platform," the statement read, with additional information about how to cancel membership.

The news comes amid tension between the show's creators and the streaming giant. Earlier this month, it was announced that South Park's upcoming 27th season would be delayed for several weeks. The decision to push back the premiere was seemingly impacted by the upcoming merger of Paramount+ and Skydance.

"This merger is a shitshow and it's f--king up South Park," creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone said in a statement. "We are at the studio working on new episodes and we hope the fans get to see them somehow."

Parker and Stone are also allegedly threatening legal action, according to The Hollywood Reporter, and accusing Jeff Shell, the incoming president of Skydance-Paramount, of interfering in negotiations with other potential streaming partners.

According to THR, South Park had two years remaining in its digital rights deal with Paramount+ before it was unexpectedly removed from the platform.

Just how the legal drama will play out is unclear but as of now, Season 27 of South Park is still set to premiere on Wednesday, July 23 at 10 p.m. ET.
