Easy A was an instant success when it hit the cinemas in 2010, grossing over $75 million worldwide. The teen comedy, directed by Will Gluck, follows Olive Pendergast (Emma Stone) a high school student who lies about losing her virginity and is labeled as promiscuous by her classmates. Olive then becomes a self-proclaimed 'Easy A' and offers fake sexual favors to other students for money. The film — which also starred Penn Badgley, Amanda Bynes, Lisa Kudrow, and Stanley Tucci among others — was partially inspired by Nathaniel Hawthorne's 1850 novel The Scarlet Letter.
