Aldi drops prices on over 250 foods until Labor Day – as President says he doesn't want cost to 'hold people back' | 1P4Q739 | 2024-05-07 17:08:01
ALDI has slashed prices on hundreds of items before Labor Day.
The retail giant is dedicated to providing Americans with affordable food and drink options for summer cookouts.

With inflation remaining high on most groceries nationwide, the company detailed plans to reach $100 million in money saved for customers starting this month, per a press release.
Aldi confirmed price drops on "more than 250 items," supposedly "double savings" from last spring.
The brand said the consideration of affordability ahead of Labor Day was to make good on its promise in 2023 of lowering costs and saving shoppers at least more than $60 million.
Dave Rinaldo, president of Aldi's United States operations, said the company specifically did not want to "hold people back" from barbecues and fun outside this summer.
"Aldi is always looking for ways to help customers save money, but with more experts warning of persistent inflation, the time was right to deliver even greater discounts on our already low prices for a second year in a row," Rinaldo noted in the release.
"We don't want food prices to hold people back from getting together with friends and family or spending time outdoors this season."
The deals and discounts on Aldi merchandise fall into four categories: "picnic necessities, BBQ essentials, travel-ready snacks, and better-for-you foods."
BY THE CENT
Prices on the better-for-you foods, which included Simply Nature Chia Seeds, Organic Avocado Oil, Organic Pinto Beans, and Season's Choice Frozen Blueberries, dropped by less than a dollar each.
The savings were 56 cents, 16 cents, 40 cents, 17 cents, and 10 cents, respectively.
Getting all the items together would result in a total money saved of about $1.39.
<!-- End of Brightcove Player --> Picnic necessities saw similar margins for costs cut at Aldi on the Specially Selected French Baguette, Macarons, Vitalife Assorted Kombucha, Simms Summer Sausage, and Emporium Selection Cracker Cuts.
The extra cash in this food section is about $1.10.
Travel-ready snacks saw slightly more go back into customer's pockets.
Simple Nature Organic Granola Bars went from $3.99 to $3.49, and Benton's Cookie Thins dropped from $2.99 to $2.69.
Southern Grove Dried Cranberries were listed at $1.75 after starting at $1.95.
The same brand's Sunflower Kernels and Dried Mediterranean Apricots also dropped a few cents.
BARBECUE BONUS
Aldi customers can save the most on BBQ essentials.
The USDA Choice Black Sirloin Steak had the biggest drop of all the items on the list in the press release, going on sale at $6.99 when it was originally $8.49.
Others, like the Family Pack Chicken Breast, Burman's Steak Sauce, Season's Choice Frozen French Fries, and Park Street Deli Pulled Pork and Pulled Chicken dropped by higher margins.
The total money saved in the BBQ section was about $2.70.
Price reductions on all the sections will end on July 10, so customers must act fast if they want to take advantage of the deal.

Aldi added that the price discounts are also a result of the efficiency of its store operations.
With its famed cart quarter system and products displayed in their original packaging, the brand said it can further "pass on savings to customers."
The brand is also expanding and plans to open 800 locations within the next five years.
