Fans might recognize his last name.
Will Iger, the son of incoming Lakers co-owner Bob Iger, will take over play-by-play duties for the Coachella Valley Lakers, the team announced on Thursday . He will work alongside color commentator A.C. Green, who won three NBA titles with the Lakers during his playing career.
The elder Iger purchased a stake in the elder Lakers alongside venture capitalist Joshua Kushner at a valuation of $12.5 billion less than three months ago.
You can see a sample of the younger Iger's work below from his Instagram account.
Per the Lakers, Will Iger has worked at a number of stops in recent years, including for the G League Austin Spurs, San Antonio FC of the second-tier UFL Championship soccer league and both Columbia and Hofstra University. He graduated from the University of Texas-Austin in 2025.
The sale of the Lakers to Kushner and Iger was reported in August. with the pair acquiring a majority stake in the team from owner Mark Walter amid a series of financial and legal difficulties for the billionaire. The pair could end up owning the entire team, as they have made an offer for the Buss family's remaining Lakers stake that every sibling wants to accept, save for team governor Jeanie Buss. How that works out is now a matter for the courts .
The sale of the Lakers is still pending, but it was reported in late October that Walter and Kushner, who is covering the vast majority of the purchase price, had reached an agreement on all outstanding terms of sale . The next step will be a review by the NBA, followed by a vote by the league's board of governors.
