Trump County would help resolve 'taxation without representation'
"It's a real-life civics project to end taxation without representation," Herold said in a YouTube video promoting the proposal and associated website,trumpcountyfl.com.
Herold said the idea for the proposal came after a Flagler County meeting after commissioners passed an additional tax on the barrier island "despiteoverwhelming opposition."
Beach concerns have resonated with a few commenters on the petition, including a post from Evelyn Cirminiello:
"Wedesperately need representation. Our needs are unique and our barrier islands need to be preserved and cared for. Commissioners who do not live here should not be calling the shots on taxation amongst other issues."

Herold said grouping barrier communities together "could allow for pooling resources to address beach management and other coastal-specific concerns in a cost-efficient manner."
