'Star Search' is back amid revival mania with new Netflix show

"Star Search," the iconic talent competition show from the '80s and '90s, will make its grand return in 2026, though this timefit for the streaming era.

Where the original program, which saw contestants compete across entertainment skills, was a broadcast favorite, the revivalwill stream on Netflix.The show, which will premiere Jan. 13, will be hosted by"Black-ish" star Anthony Anderson.

New episodes of "Star Search" will air live on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET and are set to include realtime voting to save or axe contestants.

In a release announcing the show, Netflix promised the series would feel "nostalgic yet fresh," adding something new to "the talent competition space," which has recently seen a ratings jolt amid the popularity of this season of"Dancing with the Stars."
