Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino revealed that he lost about 30 lbs. and has regained his abs from his Jersey Shore era

He shared that he achieved the weight loss with a strict diet, which included cutting out pasta and chicken cutlets, as well as a two-hour gym routine five days a week

The 43-year-old also refuted rumors that he used a GLP-1, like Ozempic, in order to achieve the weight loss

Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino is back to flexing his famous abs after shedding pounds amid his latest fitness comeback.

The Jersey Shore alum, 43, revealed in an interview with the New York Post while chatting about his weight loss journey that he's 30 lbs. lighter thanks to a new diet and workout plan.

"I probably haven't been this weight since 19 or 20 years old," Sorrentino told the outlet. "I'm also realizing that maybe a lot of genetics have to do with it because as soon as I lost the weight, the abs are just there."

"I'm like, 'Oh my God, God decided to give me back my abs,' " he added.

The reality star shared that in order to achieve the feat, he implemented a two-hour gym routine five days a week. He also set up a strict diet plan — cutting out Italian favorites like pasta and chicken cutlets — which is something he said that he's planning to ease up on.

"Abs are made in the kitchen," he told the NYP. "I never cheated on my diet, but I'm going to start to implement that cheat day because I'm down to 180 [lbs.] now."

Sorrentino, who is shooting Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, noted that the MTV production team was doubtful that he would be able to get his signature abs back, but he made sure to prove them wrong.

"I started telling production at MTV, 'I think I'm going to get 'The Situation' back. I'm putting in the work, I'm starting to look good.' And they were like, 'Yeah, okay,' " he recalled. "Because I'm not a spring chicken. I'm not in my 20s anymore."

He surprised fans by showing off his new body at the MTV VMA Awards Ceremony last month, which he also shared on Instagram. He noted that fans were also skeptical about his transformation.

"Everyone's like, 'Oh, he had a facelift,' because I had just showed my face. It was all over the press … And I'm like, 'It was gym, tanning, laundry,' " Sorrentino said, jokingly referring to the saying the Jersey Shore cast made famous.

The dad of three also refuted rumors in his interview with the NYP that he used a GLP-1, like Ozempic, in order to achieve weight loss, saying that he wouldn't do it since those kinds of weight loss drugs also cause muscle loss.

Sorrentino shared that he's overcome numerous challenges to get to where he is today — including battling an addiction to prescription painkillers, which he's been sober from for 10 years and serving time in prison for tax evasion, among other personal hurdles.

"What a journey I've had from having my abs when I was first introduced to the world to now post prison, post addiction, recovery and now having them again … this is the evolution of The Situation," he told the NYP.

"I have the family and the story and the sobriety, and now I got the abs back. All those things are priceless. You have to earn those. I put the work in for all of that," he added.
