The world's oldest man just got older!

On Sunday, Oct. 5, João Marinho Neto, who Guinness World Records named the world's oldest man late last year, turned 113 years old. Neto, who is from Brazil, celebrated the milestone with a big birthday bash that was planned for him by his loved ones, according to Guinness.

Neto was born on Oct. 5, 1912, in Maranguape, a municipality in the Brazilian state of Ceará. He is now the last surviving man born that year, and the 26th oldest man to ever live, per Guinness.

The record-breaker's birthday bash should come as no surprise to those who have learned his secret to a long life, which he shared when Guinness named him the world's oldest man in November. Neto told Guinness that the secret to his longevity is being surrounded by good people as well as making sure his loved ones are close by.

Neto — who was already the oldest known living man in Latin America — was 112 years and 52 days when he earned the title following the death of John Tinniswood of the United Kingdom.

Neto — who is not the oldest living person, a title held by 116-year-old Ethel Caterham of the U.K. — was born into a family of farmers, and he worked in the fields alongside his dad starting at age 4, per Guinness.

Neto welcomed four children — Antônio, José, Fátima and Vanda — with his first wife, Josefa Albano dos Santos, and later welcomed three more kids — Vinícius, Jarbas and Conceição — with partner Antonia Rodrigues Moura, according to Guinness.

Six of Neto's eight children are still living, and he also has 22 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Neto's 113th birthday party comes a few months after he celebrated his fellow Guinness record-holder on her birthday.

In August, he nodded to oldest living person Caterham as she turned 116, according to LongeviQuest.

He was informed of Caterham's birthday by granddaughter Valéria Marinho, who told LongeviQuest that her grandad was enthusiastic about sending her a birthday greeting. He rocked sunglasses while holding up a sign that included pictures of the U.K. native and read "Feliz Aniversário" — "Happy Birthday" in Portuguese — photos shared by LongeviQuest and Guinness show.

The birthday wish marked "the first documented communication between the world's oldest woman and the world's oldest man," per LongeviQuest, as well as "the first recorded birthday greeting exchanged between supercentenarians in different countries."
