Taylor Swift is making clear that she didn't make her bff Selena Gomez's wedding day all about her
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday, Oct. 6, the pop superstar insisted "I did not make it about me" when she made a speech as Gomez tied the knot to music producer Benny Blanco on Sept. 27
"I actually made a point not to mention anything about my engagement," Swift, who got engaged to NFL star Travis Kelce on Aug 26, told Fallon
Taylor Swift didn't steal her bestie Selena Gomez's thunder at her wedding.
While appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday, Oct. 6, the pop superstar, 35, said that during her speech at Gomez's wedding, she didn't mention her engagement to NFL star Travis Kelce as she wanted all the focus to be on the bride on her big day.
During a segment where Swift debunked rumors with host Jimmy Fallon, she was asked if she said to 33-year-old Gomez during her nuptials, "You beat me to the altar."
Swift replied "no," explaining, "I did make a speech, but I actually made a point not to mention anything about my engagement. No one wants you to be like, 'Hey, I know this is your wedding day but—'" with a raised hand showing off her ring. "I was like, 'Don't mention it.'"

Swift then joked about her ring, "Let me turn it around," as she adjusted it to face away.
"I got to see her be the most elegant, gorgeous — not only bride but just — vision that I've ever seen in my life. I've never seen anything so beautiful as her on her wedding day," Swift continued of Gomez's Sept. 27 wedding to music producer Benny Blanco.
"The Fate of Ophelia" singer went on to share the contents of her speech, saying that she did "some light teasing" about the pair's dress sense in 2008, which was "the year that we met."
"It was the year of deep, deep V-necks. It was the year of aggressively colorful skinny jeans…," laughed Swift. "Selena — her favorite outfit back then was a very long tank top, skinny jeans, but a tiny little vest … I always looked like I was late for the cowboy-themed junior prom. So I talked a little bit about 2008, how happy I am for her, how it's been beautiful to get to be a part of her life. But I did not make it about me."

Swift is set to be a bride herself soon, after announcing her engagement to Kelce, 36, on Aug. 26. The couple began dating in 2023.

During The Tonight Show, Swift showed off her dazzling engagement ring, laughing, "I look at it constantly, like, it doesn't feel in any way normal for me."
As for Kelce, she described him to Fallon as "my favorite person I've ever met."
"The fact that this is the person that I get to hang out with every day forever, that's the whole thing of it. You look at it and you're like, 'I'm going to hang out with him forever and this [her ring] represents that," she continued.
