Some of the best things in life come in pairs. Shoes, socks, jeans, peanut butter and jelly, burgers and fries, the list goes on.

The same can be said in football. Having a pair of dynamic players at the same position can put a franchise a step above the rest. Look no further than some of the best offenses and defenses in the league this season.

The Philadelphia Eagles' duo of Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata at right and left tackle, respectively, gives the offense a foundation to be one of the best in the NFL on the ground and through the air. Detroit's safety tandem of Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph is a pair of playmaking defenders who change the way opponents attack the Lions' defense.

Detroit also boasts the best running back duo in the league with Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery. "Sonic and Knuckles" power the sixth-best rushing attack in the NFL behind a top-tier offensive line.

But there are few flashier tandems than at the wide receiver position. A one-two punch at that position may stress defensive coordinators out more than anything. Dedicate extra resources to stopping one wide receiver and you suddenly look up and find the other star has picked up the slack.

Week 5's "Thursday Night Football" matchup features one of the better wide receiver tandems in the league with the Los Angeles Rams' Puka Nacua and Davante Adams. But how do they stack up league-wide? Here are our top five wide receiver duos in the NFL:

Best wide receiver duos in the NFL5. CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, Dallas Cowboys

Lamb is out for at least another week as he recovers from a high-ankle sprain suffered in Week 3. Pickens ensured the Cowboys' offense didn't skip a beat in Week 4 against the Green Bay Packers in primetime. He racked up eight catches for 134 yards and two touchdowns on 11 targets.

Dallas gave up a third-round draft pick for Pickens and it's paid off so far. Lamb didn't play against the Packers but was elated on the sidelines for the Cowboys' other top wideout to score a spectacular touchdown.

Players know: CeeDee Lamb knew the #Packers playing press on George Pickens was going to result in a big play.Excellent mic'd up clip. 🎤 pic.twitter.com/KY1ztTjVvt
