The drab evolution of McDonald's restaurants over the years has sent social media users into a frenzy as many point to conspiracy theories to explain the drastic design changes. The American classic food chain was founded as a humble burger joint by brothers Dick and Mac McDonald in San Bernardino, California in 1948. After experiencing great success with their small business, Dick and Mac decided to launch McDonald's as a franchise, with it's first franchised location popping up in Des Plaines, Illinois in 1955.
