A German tourist has been mauled by a shark in front of horrified holidaymakers at a popular holiday beach in Thailand. Elke Maier, 57, screamed in pain when the beast sank its teeth into her leg while she was swimming in front of her hotel in Phang Nga on November 29. Tourists helped her to hobble ashore as she bled heavily from the gaping 12 inch (30cm) wound on her left lower leg.
