MLB player Tim Wakefield's widow, Stacy Wakefield, continued to offer back to the group as she battled the disease herself.

In accordance with the Associated Press, the Wakefields made an annual Christmas trip to Boston's Dana Farber Youngsters's Hospital to deliver presents to youngsters affected by most cancers with their daughter, Brianna, 18. (Stacy and Tim shared youngsters Trevor, 20, and Brianna.)

Scherber shared that Stacy's legacy is "service to others."

On Wednesday, February 28, the Wakefield household shared in a press release that Stacy had lost her battle with cancer.

"It is with deep unhappiness that we share that our beloved mom, daughter, sister, niece, and aunt, Stacy, passed away in the present day at her house in Massachusetts. She was surrounded by her household and pricey pals, in addition to her fantastic caretakers and nurses," they stated in the statement shared by way of the Boston Purple Sox, including that the loss of Stacy is "unimaginable" after saying goodbye to Tim 5 months in the past. "We'll keep in mind Stacy as a robust, loving, thoughtful and type individual, who was as down-to-earth as they arrive. We feel so lucky to have had her in our lives, and we take comfort in the truth that she can be reunited with Tim, the love of her life."

The message concluded with the Wakefields sharing their appreciation for Stacy's "docs, nurses and caretakers" who helped her.

"We're eternally grateful in your unmatched care and help. And to all of you who've sent nicely needs over these last several months, we really respect your kindness," the statement read. "We kidney ask for privateness presently as we attempt to process this profound loss."

Whereas Tim and Stacy did not disclose many details about their health earlier than their demise, Tim's former teammate Curt Schilling revealed in September 2023, with out the Wakefields' permission, that Tim was recognized with mind most cancers and Stacy was battling pancreatic cancer.
