Golden State coach Steve Kerr dismissed the notion that the Warriors would sit their superstar without a guaranteed spot in the playoffs.

Kerr said beforeGolden State's 137-131 overtime victory at Dallason Monday night thatCurry's planned participation in practicea day earlier was put off by the medical staff. A six-game road trip ends against the Mavericks, and the Warriors will decide what's next for Curry after they get home.

"It's all just part of the rehab and all the different testing he does," Kerr said. "Just pushed back a day or two."

The Warriors are in 10th place in the Western Conference, and if they finish the season in that final spot in the play-in tournament, they would have to win two road games to make the playoffs.

Curry hasn't played since Jan. 30 as he deals with patella-femoral pain syndrome and bone bruising in the knee. Golden State is 23-16 with Curry and 11-22 without him this season.

The win over the Mavericks was just the second in the past 10 games for the Warriors, who are 7-15 since Curry's latest injury. Golden State guard Moses Moody exited late in OT with an apparently serious left knee injury.

"We're not chasing a play-in berth. We are squarely in the play-in no matter what we do," Kerr said. "Bottom line, if Steph is healthy, he's going to play because that's what we're here for. The chance to get into the playoffs is a big deal for us, big deal for Steph."

At the same time, Kerr said if there's any risk of longer-term damage to the knee, Curry won't play. The 38-year-old leads the Warriors in scoring at 27.2 points per game.

Kerr deflected the question of whether Curry was disappointed that his return to practice was put off at least two more days.

Golden State had initially hoped he would return right after the All-Star break, andCurry sat out the All-Star Game this year.

"It's been a long haul," the coach said. "He's dying to get out there, for sure."

This story was corrected to show the Warriors are 23-16 when Stephen Curry plays, not 23-17.

Barry Manilow Details Lung Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment, Says It 'Made Me Take Stock of My Life' at 82 (Exclusive)

Barry Manilow was diagnosed with stage 1 lung cancer in November

People

NEED TO KNOW

  • In a new PEOPLE cover story, he opens up about his diagnosis and the treatment that left him cancer free

  • "I thought I might be dying," Manilow says of learning that he had cancer

He made it through the rain — nowBarry Manilowis opening up about his "nightmare"lung cancer diagnosisand treatment.

In December, the music icon, 82, revealed that he had been diagnosed with lung cancer and wasundergoing treatment. Now in an exclusive PEOPLE cover story, Manilow — who just announced that his 33rd studio album,What a Time, will drop June 5 — is detailing the experience for the first time.

"You just don't even think about [how fragile life is]. And suddenly, you have lung cancer. But I'm still here. I'm not all here; there's part of me that isn't here — they took out a part of me, and now I've got to figure out, 'What do I do?'" Manilow says.

In November, Manilow's hips were bothering him, so he went to the doctor, who ordered an MRI for his pelvis, then for his lungs when he learned the singer had recently weathered two bouts of bronchitis.

"If he hadn't done that, man ... He saved my life, because there's no symptoms for what I had. I could go on, nothing hurt — but they found the dot in my lung," Manilow says. "They called me and said, 'Could be cancer.' That's a bad word. 'Not me. F--- you. I can't have cancer.'"

More tests confirmed his doctors' suspicion: He had stage 1 lung cancer.

"They don't even know how long I had this thing sitting on me. It could have been years," he says. "If it had gone any further, then I would be up s---'s creek. It just so happened that it hadn't spread, and boy oh boy, I thought I might be dying."

Four week later, Manilow checked into the hospital to undergo a lobectomy to remove the diseased part of the lung. Following the successful surgery, he spent seven daysin the ICUbefore being discharged. "I don't remember it, thank goodness, because it was a nightmare," Manilow says of his hospital stay. "I'm one of the lucky ones; I don't have to have chemo, radiation and all that stuff."

Now cancer free, the Emmy, Grammy and Tony winner has plenty to celebrate. In March, his new song "Once Before I Go" became a top 10 single, making him the only artist in history to notch an adult contemporary hit in six consecutive decades. And in June, he'll release,What a Time.

Through the ordeal, Manilow has received support from his husband and manager, Garry Kief, as well as friends, family and his beloved Fanilows. Despite his health challenges and uncertain future, Manilow is at peace.

"It has really, really made me take stock of my life. This made me stop and think about: Have I done what I wanted to do, and have I made people happy? Have I been a good friend? All of those cornball things that I've read for all of my life, I started to think about that, too. It really did stop me in my tracks," he says of going through cancer. "And the answers are yes. And as a matter of fact, there are more yeses than I ever thought."

Manilow is still on a long road to recovery, though. The future of his performing career hangs in the balance as the "Copacabana (At the Copa)" singer continues to recover from his cancer treatment, which resulted in the removal of one of his left lung's two lobes, which deliver oxygen to the bloodstream. At press time, he was scheduled to resume hisongoing farewell arena tourafter postponing dates amid his health crisis.

"This really rocked me," he says, "but I'm getting stronger."

Jude Law's Scandalous Romantic History Surfaces Amid Chappell Roan Security Guard Controversy

Fans rallying aroundChappell Roanamid the fallout over the alleged treatment ofJude Law's 11-year-old daughterare now dragging up the actor'slong romantic historyin what appears to be an attempt to blunt the damage to the singer.

Bored Panda

The fresh round of scrutiny comes after Roan was hit with intense backlash over claims that a security guard associated with her aggressively confrontedAda Lawat a luxury hotel in São Paulo on March 21, leaving the child, according to her family, deeply upset.

As the outrage spread, some of Roan's defenders have tried to paint Jude Law himself as morally compromised by resurfacing his past affairs, as well as his children with different women.

"The funniest thing about this whole debacle is how it brought Jude Law's baby mama history to public awareness," a viral post read.

Thecontroversybegan when Brazilian footballer Jorginho Frello, who is married to Catherine Harding, the mother of one of Jude Law's daughters, accused Roan's security of mistreating the 11-year-old girl during breakfast at the hotel where both parties were staying ahead of Lollapalooza Brasil.

According to Jorginho, Ada did not approach the singer or invade her space. He said she "simply walked past the singer's table, looked to confirm it was her, smiled, and went back to sit with her mum."

He then alleged that "a largesecurity guardcame over and began speaking in an extremely aggressive manner… saying that she shouldn't allow my daughter to 'disrespect' or 'harass' other people."

The footballer said the encounter had a serious effect on thechild, writing that his stepdaughter was "extremely shaken and cried a lot."

Jorginho, who previously played for Chelsea and Arsenal, addressed the singer directly, writing, "Without your fans, you would be nothing. And to the fans, she does not deserve your affection."

"Dude literally wouldn't recognize fidelity if it offered him his hairline back," a user wrote. "He's for the streets."

In 1997, Law married actress Sadie Frost, whom he had met on the set ofShopping. They had three children together, including Rafferty and Iris, before divorcing on October 29, 2003.

That relationship imploded publicly after Law issued an apology to Miller on July 8, 2005, for having an affair with his children's nanny. He and Miller ended their relationship in November 2006.

While filmingAlfiein late 2003, he began a relationship with co-star Sienna Miller and became engaged to her in 2004.

In 2008, he had a brief relationship with American model Samantha Burke, who gave birth to his fourth child in 2009.

In 2015, Law and Irish singerCatherine Hardingwelcomed a daughter, his fifth child. Harding is now married to Jorginho Frello.

Law then married psychologist Phillipa Coan in 2019. They welcomed their first child together, his sixth, in 2020, and their second, his seventh, in 2023.

Roan later denied that she had any role in what happenedand apologized to the family

In a video posted to Instagram, she said, "I'm just going to tell my half of the story of what happened today with a mother and child who were involved with a security guard who is not my personal security."

The singerinsisted she "didn't even see a woman and a child," and denied having asked the security guard to go up and talk to the mother and child.

Roanalso apologized for the family's distress, saying, "I do not hate people who are fans of my music. I do not hate children, that is crazy.

"I'm sorry to the mother and child… if you felt uncomfortable, that makes me really sad. You did not deserve that."

Despite the apology, the backlash continued.

Rio de Janeiro mayor Eduardo Cavaliere then announced that, as long as he remained in office,Roanwould not be invited to perform at Todo Mundo no Rio, the city-backed Copacabana Beach music showcase that has previously hosted names like Madonna and Lady Gaga.

"As long as I'm in charge of our city — this young lady Chappell Roan will never perform at Todo Mundo no Rio!" he wrote, inviting Ada Law to attend the festival as a guest of honor when Shakira headlines in May.

Catherine Harding later gave her own account and challenged parts of Roan's explanation

Speaking in an Instagram Reel after receiving "so many messages" about the ordeal, Harding said the man involved was not hotel staff, as some had assumed from Roan's version of events.

"He looks afterartists," she said.

"Now I don't know if he's her personal security guard but he was with her, so that is all I know, did she send him to do it? again, I don't know, I would like to hope not," she added.

"But at the same time you have a responsibility when you are a celebrity that the people who work for you and act on your behalf are acting on your behalf."

She then questioned whether the guard would have acted that way without some level of approval, adding that if he had not been authorized, it would still reflect a serious issue, as he was representing the singer in a way that could damage her image.

According to Harding, the man then came to their table and told her daughter she was badly educated and should respect people's privacy.

Harding then pushed back, saying, "Well, if this is the case that she doesn't even want people to look at her, she is very welcome to eat breakfast in her room because this here is a public area and I am a paying guest as well as her."

"So if I want to walk past someone's table and look at them, I have every right to do so. I am not approaching her. I'm not doing anything to make her feel intimidated or nothing."

Netizens defended the mother, believing Roan herself was the one who instructed the guard to act

"No security guard yells at people for no reason," a reader wrote. "They do what they're told. They follow orders from whoever is paying them."

Another person, pointing to separate footage of Roan reacting to someone filming her, wrote, "There's a video of Chappell walking through a crowd when she spots the person filming her she points it out to her bodyguard who then starts yelling at and walking towards this person.

"She definitely sent her bodyguard over."

The debate also revived older criticism around Roan's repeated comments about fan boundaries.

As her fame grew in 2024, she publicly condemned behavior she described as invasive, saying, "I don't care that ab*se and harassment, stalking, whatever, is a normal thing to do to people who are famous."

"It's weird how people think that you know a person because you see them online and you listen to the art they make," she added.

In another message, she wrote, "Women don't owe you s***," while explaining that she had dealt with "too many nonconsensual physical and social interactions." She also said, "I just want to be outside, giggle with friends, go to the movie theater, and feel safe."

Earlier this month, she again went viral after confronting photographers and fans outside a restaurant.

"I'm just trying to go to dinner, and I've asked these people several times to get away from me," she said. "These are all the people that are completely disregarding all of my boundaries."

'A tragedy': 14-year-old McKenna Wendel found dead in South Dakota

The case ofa missing 14-year-old South Dakota girlfound dead more than 50 miles from her home is drawing the attention of federal authorities, internet sleuths and national news media as police remain tight-lipped about what they believe happened to the teen.

USA TODAY

McKenna Wendel's body was found on Thursday, March 19, in Brookings, South Dakota, roughly an hour north of the home she shared with her grandparents in Sioux Falls. The Sioux Falls Police Department announced the location of McKenna's bodyduring a news conferenceon Monday, March 23.

South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley, who was at the scene in a rural area when McKenna's body was recovered, told reporters on Monday that he has assured her family "that law enforcement is giving this the attention it deserves."

"This is a 14-year-old little girl," Jackley said. "You can be assured that law enforcement is going to continue to give this the attention it deserves to bring justice to what happened to McKenna."

At times during the news conference, authorities sounded cryptic about whether they believe someone killed McKenna between the time she went missing in the early-morning hours of March 14 and when her body was found a week later.

McKenna Wendel

"I have no suspect of any crime yet," Lt. Terrance Matia told reporters on Monday. But when asked why police have said they don't believe the public is in any danger, Matia responded that "there's no one out there assaulting someone."

"We think that all the people that were involved or know her whereabouts we have either in custody on unrelated charges or we know who they are," he said.

Matia acknowledged releasing limited information but said it's "because the whole point of the investigation is for McKenna, and to make sure that if there is a prosecution, it is successfully prosecuted."

Sioux Falls Police Chief Jon Thum said that all the investigators "are very dogged in the pursuit that we have of the job we have in front of us."

"This is a tragedy," he said. "And this is one that'll stick with us for the entirety of our careers."

Here's what we know about the case so far.

What are circumstances surrounding McKenna Wendel's death?

McKenna Wendel was last seen in Sioux Falls, where she lived with her grandparents, around 1:30 a.m. on March 14. She was reported missing on March 15, with policeLt. Aaron Nybergsaying she was last known to be with a family member, though he didn't specify who, according to the Sioux Falls Argus Leader, part of the USA TODAY Network.

On Thursday morning, authorities went to a rural area of Brookings and found her body. Two people led authorities to the location, Matia said, though he did not elaborate.

When asked how McKenna may have ended up where her body was found, he said she was "transported in a vehicle."

Authorities have said very little about what they believed happened to McKenna, though Matia said that she "and others may have traveled to other locations" during the time she was gone, including Iowa, Minnesota and multiple locations in South Dakota. Matia declined to elaborate but said his agency is working with the FBI, the U.S. Attorney's Office and the South Dakota Attorney General's Office "in locating where the venue would be if criminal charges were to come in the future."

He said authorities plan to release more information after McKenna's autopsy is finished later this week. The autopsy began on Monday.

Capt. Terrance Matia with the Crimes Against Persons unit, alongside Sioux Falls Police Chief Jon Thum (right), South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley and representatives of numerous state law agencies, speaks Monday, March 23, 2026, at the Sioux Falls Law Enforcement Center about the disappearance and death of 14-year-old McKenna Wendel, who was found dead on March 19 near a creek in rural Brookings County, South Dakota.

Owner of property where McKenna Wendel was found is 'just sick'

Authorities began looking for McKenna's body in the area where it was found on March 17, the Argus Leader reported. It's called the Six-Mile drainage creek just west of Brookings.

Todd Voss, who owns the land where McKenna was found, told the Argus Leaderthat he gave authorities permission to search the property. After they scoured it for over 24 hours with no result, Voss advised them to look at heavy grass and willows along the drainage ditch near a bridge.

When Voss got the news they had found McKenna, he flew back home from Arizona and started processing the tragedy.

"I sat there on the bridge and was just sick," Voss told the newspaper. "This is my peaceful place, where I go out and enjoy the wildlife ... This will probably taint it forever. I will be thinking of her every time I walk out there."

The body of 14-year-old McKenna Wendel of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, was recovered March 19, 2026, along Six-Mile Creek, somewhere near 214th Street west of Brookings, South Dakota. Some, but not all, first responders participating in the water recovery included the Sioux Falls Police Department, the Brookings County Sheriff's Department and the Brookings County Fire Department.

Who was McKenna Wendel?

McKenna Rose Wendell, who turned 14 in January, was a big sister to two siblings, made friends easily, and "had a vibrant personality and a zest for life,"according to her obituary.

"She loved being outdoors − climbing trees, playing in the park, and riding her bike," her family wrote. "She could often be found digging in the dirt looking for critters or catching tadpoles to bring home as pets."

McKenna loved animals so much that she "spent a great deal of time trying to convince her grandma that they should adopt lizards, frogs, and any other little creature that caught her eye," the obit said. "They finally settled on two hermit crabs and a sheepadoodle named Iris. When her hermit crabs passed away, she held a funeral for them and had her Papa make a cross for their burial."

McKenna, who was Indigenous, lived with grandparents Ralph and Rose Wendel, and the trio often went to Pow-wows together. McKenna particularly "loved the singing and the beautiful sounds of the drums," her obituary said.

McKenna also loved spending time with her best friend Aaliyah, and the two girls who hold sleepovers, make dance videos and watch the sunset together, the obituary said.

"McKenna's sweet, gentle nature and her fun sense of humor will be cherished and greatly missed," the obituary said. "She was the center around which her grandparents' lives revolved. She touched the hearts and lives of all who knew her."

McKenn'a funeral will be held on Thursday, March 26.
