Air travelers are reacting with shock after a dead passenger's body was reportedly stored in a heated galley for more than 13 hours on along-haul flight, according to reports.

A woman in her 60s died about an hour after takeoff on British Airways Flight BA32 fromHong Kongto London last Sunday, but the pilots continued on to Heathrow Airport instead of turning back, The Sunreported.

A source told the outlet that theAirbus A350-1000's galley had a heated floor, and by the end of the flight "there were claims that a foul smell was present" in that area.

"Obviously, the family with the woman were distraught, and so were the crew," the source said. "Many wanted to return to Hong Kong. But, to put it bluntly, if a passenger has already died, that is not viewed as an emergency."

British Airways told Fox News Digital that its crew followed all procedures.

"A customer sadly passed away on board and our thoughts are with their family and friends at this difficult time," the airline said. "We are supporting our crew and all procedures were correctly followed."

A source told The Sun that a discussion took place about what to do with the body, with the crew rejecting a request from the flight deck to lock it in the plane's bathroom.

"So they had to isolate the body, wrap it in materials, and move it to a galley at the rear of the plane," the source said, adding that the area had a heated floor.

The outlet said that once the plane landed last Sunday, police asked the 331 passengers on board to stay in their seats for roughly 45 minutes while they investigated the onboard death.

British Airways did not receive a formal complaint regarding the incident, but The Sun reported that somepassengers took time off workto recover from the ordeal.

The Guthrie family on Saturday evening expressed their gratitude to the Tucson community where their missing mother Nancy lived before herdisappearance and suspected abductionseven weeks ago.

They asked residents not to forget her case.

"We are deeply grateful for the outpouring from neighbors, friends and the people of Tucson. We are all family now," the Guthrie family told NBC affiliate KVOA of Tucson fora special report that aired Saturday.

The family asked the community to look at camera footage and to search their memories for anything that may assist in the search for Nancy Guthrie, 84, the mother of "TODAY" co-host Savannah Guthrie.

"It's possible a member of this community has information that they do not even realize is significant," the family said, adding: "No detail is too small. It may be the key."

Nancy Guthriewas reported missing on Feb. 1from her home near Tucson and she was last seen the previous night at around 9:45 p.m., officials have said.

Police have been searching for a person of interest in the case and released photos of a masked man seen on doorbell surveillance video.

Some of Nancy Guthrie's blood was also found on the porch and investigators believe she was the victim of a targeted crime, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has said.

The Guthrie family has pleaded for Nancy Guthrie's safe returnand has offered $1 million for her recovery.

The FBI, which is assisting in the case, is alsooffering a $50,000 reward.

Flowers and notes of encouragementhave been left at Nancy Guthrie's home.

The Guthrie family said in the message to KVOA: "Thank you for continuing to pray without ceasing."

"We miss our mom with every breath and we cannot be in peace until she is home," the family said. " We cannot grieve; we can only ache and wonder. Our focus is solely on finding her and bringing her home. We want to celebrate her beautiful and courageous life. But we cannot do that until she is brought to a final place of rest."

Parts of California and Arizona were under extreme heat warnings again Saturday while sweltering summerlike weather even stretched as far north as Nebraska just a day into spring.

Temperatures at or above 100 degrees Fahrenheit (37.7 C) were forecast in the Southwest, closing a remarkableweek of record-breaking heat.Experts say April, May and June are likely to be hotter than normal almost everywhere in the U.S.

Win Marsh said the heat was a reason to return home early to Utah after she and her husband, Stephen, hiked 170 miles (273 kilometers) over two weeks in Arizona, starting at the Mexico border. Their goal was to complete more than 800 miles (1,287 kilometers) on the Arizona Trail.

"We know our limits," Marsh, 63, said Saturday. "We can't hike when our bodies can't cool down. There's no shade out there, and water sources are drying up. ... We promised our kids we wouldn't do sketchy stuff. We're not out there for a search-and-rescue event."

The National Weather Service predicted 100 degrees (37.7 C) in Tucson, Arizona. The Yuma Desert, a desert community in southwestern Arizona, was headed toward 105 degrees (40.5 C), a day after reaching 112 (43.3 C) — a record for the highest March temperature in the United States.

Two places in Southern California also hit that temperature Friday. Experts say triple-digit days typically arrive byMay, not March.

In the Midwest, temperatures exceeding 90 (32.2 C) were predicted across Nebraska, followed by a big drop to the 50s and 60s Sunday. A red flag warning was posted, which means a higher risk for wildfires. Parts of Texas were also at 90 or higher Saturday.

"This heat is likely to break many long-standing records from over a century ago across the area," the National Weather Service in Omaha, Nebraska, said.

All evacuation orders were lifted in areas affected byNebraska's Cottonwood and Morrill fires, which have burned more than 1,200 square miles (3,118 square kilometers) for days but are largely contained, the state Emergency Management Agency said. The areas are dominated by range and grassland.

March's heat would have been virtually impossible without human-causedclimate change, according to a report Friday byWorld Weather Attribution, an international group of scientists who study the causes of extreme weather events.

Why Wizards' Anthony Gill wasn't ejected

Wizards forward Anthony Gill surprisingly avoided any discipline, despite getting heated in the middle of the scrum. He could still face subsequent discipline from the NBA, though.

Speaking to a pool reporter after the game, crew chief John Goble said Gill wasn't at fault:

"It was observed that Wallace pushed Gill into the altercation and after falling to the floor, it was not observed that Gill did anything in an unsportsmanlike manner to assess a penalty."

Thunder coach Mark Daigneault said he didn't agree with the lopsided consequencesafter the game:

"I disagreed with their judgement after talking to them and watching it at halftime. I've worked with John Goble a long time, and he worked through it with me. We ended up agreeing to disagree and both moved on.

The Wizards received two free throws from the incident. OKC went on to win the game 132-111 despite missing three rotation players for the second half. It was the Thunder's 11th straight win and Washington's 15th straight loss.

The 23XI Racing driver captured his 13th pole position despite smacking the wall with his No. 45 Toyota as he struggled with a new package that makes driving harderwith higher horsepower and lower downforce.

"I tried to take it easy and just overdid the throttle," Reddick said. "I kind of knew I was in trouble about a third of the way through, so I just had to hit the wall at that point.

"Just really proud of everyone at 23XI. It was a huge focal point with the adjustments to the engine and downforce to stay as strong as we have been the last couple of years. I knew it would be a huge challenge in qualifying today, and it was. I damn near wrecked."

Teammate Bubba Wallace qualified second at 168.434 mph in his No. 23 Toyota for 23XI, marking the second front row sweep for the team founded by Jordan and NASCAR star Denny Hamlin. Reddick and Wallace are also ranked 1-2 in the points standings through five races.

"That's Reddick for you," Wallace said. "He pushes it to the limit. That was a hell of a lap. Just proud of the efforts of the team. Continue to ride the momentum from Race 1 to now and Darlington's super tough. This package is a handful."

Wallacededicated the lap to his newborn daughter, who was born Thursday.

Chase Elliott qualified third after his No. 9 Chevrolet failed inspection twice before the session, resulting in the loss of pit selection and the ejection of car chief Matt Barndt.

Kyle Larson and Brad Keselowski rounded out the top five in qualifying.
