Drew Careyis remembering how he didn't initially realize he was having a heart attack back in 2001, causing him to ignore his symptoms and head to work.

The comic, 67, appeared onTed Danson's podcast,Where Everybody Knows Your Name,on Wednesday, March 4, and recalled how he had a heart attack as he was filming his sitcom,The Drew Carey Show.

He explained that at the time, he knew he was headed back to set in the coming days and decided he wanted to start jogging. "I was really overweight," Carey explained, noting he had a heart monitor on when he was jogging. As he made his way down the street, his "heart rate went up to something really crazy," and his shoulder "felt numb," and he was feeling "all the things that I read were heart attack symptoms."

Still, Carey says he didn't believe he was having a heart attack. "I thought if you had a heart attack, you would go and fall down, like in a cartoon," he said.

Carey shared that he was so unaware of the heart attack he was experiencing that he waited for his heart rate to go down before he continued jogging. Eventually, he decided it was time to head home, and he told his then-girlfriend what happened, again not properly identifying the medical incident, calling it the "weirdest thing," where he had "all these like heart attack-like symptoms."

His girlfriend then offered to help him out, but Carey told Danson that he wanted to go for dinner at Bob's Big Boy. There, he had a plate of chili spaghetti and iced tea and agreed to call the doctor in the morning.

However, the next day was the first day back to set onThe Drew Carey Show, and Carey didn't call his doctor as he'd planned. He spent the day doing rehearsal and felt okay, but by the end of the day, he went to the writer's room, and that's when things felt off.

"I felt something in my chest again tighten up. I went, 'Oh, I'll be right back. Let me go to my trailer.' " But after he struggled to take the stairs to the trailer, he called a producer and asked them to call for an ambulance, saying, "I think I'm having a heart attack."As he waited for the ambulance, he said bye to his friend, Sam Simon, who was on set directing, "because I didn't know what was going to happen."

Once he made it to the hospital, he was there for two nights and received a stent in one of his arteries.

In 2001, he was also diagnosed with heart disease and had to undergo an angioplasty, perParade. Nine years later, he was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. At the time, his doctor warned him that if he didn't change his lifestyle, his life was "going to be shorter" and that he would have "bad things to look forward to,"Carey told PEOPLE in March 2024.

That year, he lost 80 lbs., increased his cardio and, by August 2010, Carey ran his first 10K in nearly 25 years. He also shared that his health improved so much that he was able to reverse his type 2 diabetes and no longer needs medication.

Gaga, 39, revealed that it will be "soon" when she called intoBruno Mars'iHeart Radio livestream "Romantic Radio"on Friday, March 6.

"Hi, Bruno. Me and my fiancé have been traveling all year, but we're getting married soon," Gaga said in the voice message that played during the show. "We were hoping that maybe you could choose a special song for us."

"I know that voice," Mars, 40, said with a smile. "That is my dear friend Lady Gaga."

"If you're looking for a song to dedicate to your husband, I would say, off this new album of mine, I would go with 'Risk It All', track one," Mars recommended, before adding, "So I want to dedicate this one to Lady Gaga and her fiancé. Michael, this is for you too."

Mars then played the opening song from his new albumThe Romantic.

The low-profile pair were firstphotographedkissing at a 2020 New Year's Eve party in Las Vegas, and they went public with their relationship shortly after the 2020 Super Bowl in Miami. The couple later got engaged in 2024.

Polansky, who is an entrepreneur and Harvard University graduate, spent COVID-19 quarantine with Gaga at her Malibu home. After the pair bonded, the tech entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist quickly became a major part of Gaga's life. "My dogs and the man that I love are my whole life," she toldThe Hollywood Reporterin November 2021.

Gagaconfirmed her and Polansky's engagementin July 2024. She introduced the tech entrepreneur as her "fiancé," while talking to French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal at the Paris Olympics.

Polansky went on to collaborate with Gaga on her 2025 albumMAYHEM, where he served as a co-producer and co-wrote several songs.

In an interview withZane Lowe for Apple Musicin March 2025, Gaga opened up about how Polansky specifically inspired her song "Blade of Grass" on the album.

"And then I wrote 'Blade of Grass' because I remembered the way his face looked and I remembered the grass in the backyard and I remember thinking he should use that really long grass that's in the center of the backyard."

HONG KONG (AP) — A subsidiary of a Hong Kong-based company that has lost control of two critical ports on the Panama Canal said it is seeking $2 billion of compensation in damages from Panama over its "illegal" takeover of the ports.

Panama Ports Company, a unit of Hong Kong's CK Hutchison Holdings, said in a Friday statement that it is demanding the sum underinternational arbitration proceedingsthat it had already started.

Panama's government last weekseizedcontrol of the Balboa and Cristobal ports on each end of the Panama Canal, a crucial waterway for maritime trade, after the country's Supreme Courtdeclaredearlier that a concession allowing the Panama Ports Company to run the pair of ports was unconstitutional.

Panama Ports Company operated the two ports since 1997 and had only renewed its concession in 2021 for another 25 years. Beijing and Hong Kong's governmentshad also hit backat Panama over the seizure of the two ports.

The two ports came into the spotlight after U.S. PresidentDonald Trump,early last year, accused China of "running" the Panama Canal.

After CK Hutchison announceda dealin March last year that it would sell the bulk of their dozens of global ports, including the two Panama ports, to a consortium that involved U.S. investment firm BlackRock in a $23 billion deal, Beijing was quick to protest and the deal has been largely stalled over the past months.

CK Hutchison and the Panama Ports Company "will not relent and they are not coming for some token relief – they will assert all of their rights and damages they are due because of the radical breaches and anti-investor conduct of the Panamanian State," Friday's statement said.

In the statement, Panama Ports Company also said the Panamanian state had previously misstated the compensation figure sought in press comments. Panama Economy Minister Felipe Chapman had earlier said the company wasseeking $1.5 billionin compensation.

In a separate statement on Friday, CK Hutchison accused Panama of occupying the two ports andtaking the propertyand personnel of the Panama Ports Company "without transparency." The company also said it would continue to "pursue recourse to available national and international legal proceedings" on the matter.

BEIRUT, March 7 (Reuters) - When Israeli strikes began pummelling Beirut's southern suburbs early on Monday, Sudanese refugee Ridina Muhammad and her family had no choice but to flee home on foot, eventually reaching the only shelter that would accept ‌them: a church.

Eight months pregnant, Muhammad, 32, walked with her husband and three children for hours in the dark streets ‌until they found a car to take them to the St. Joseph Tabaris Parish, which has opened its doors to refugees and migrants.

They are among 300,000 people displaced across ​Lebanon this week by heavy Israeli strikes, launched in response to a rocket and drone attack into Israel by the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah.

Just 100,000 of the displaced are in government shelters. Others are staying with relatives or sleeping in the streets. But migrants and refugees say government shelters were never an option for them, saying they were turned away during the last war between Hezbollah and Israel.

Muhammad's oldest daughter, now seven, stopped speaking ‌after the 2024 war.

This time, they are even ⁠more vulnerable: their home was destroyed in this week's strikes and Muhammad is due to give birth at the end of the month.

"I don't know if there's a doctor or not, but I'm really scared about it ⁠because I haven't prepared any clothes for the baby, nor arranged a hospital, and I don't know where to go," she told Reuters as her younger daughter leaned against her pregnant belly.

DWINDLING RESOURCES, SPACE

Muhammad said she was registered with the United Nations' refugee agency (UNHCR) but had not received support.

"Us, as refugees, ​why ​did we register with the U.N., if they are not helping us in ​the most difficult times?" she said.

Dalal Harb, a spokesperson ‌for UNHCR Lebanon, said the agency had mobilized but reaching everyone immediately was extremely challenging given the scale and speed of displacement. The UNHCR operation in Lebanon is currently only around 14% funded, she said.

The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS), which helped the church host displaced in 2024, is doing so again.

Michael Petro, JRS' Emergency Shelter Director, said the church was full within the first day of strikes, with 140 people from South Sudan, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, and other countries sheltering there.

"There are many, many more people coming than there were in 2024, and we have fewer ‌and fewer places to put them," he said.

NOWHERE TO GO

Petro said he was ​told weeks ago that government shelters would be open to migrants if war erupted.

But ​when the strikes began and even Lebanese struggled to find ​shelter, the policy seemed to change, he said.

"We're hearing from hotlines up to government officials and ministries that ‌migrants are not welcome," Petro said.

Lebanon's Minister for Social ​Affairs Haneen Sayyed did not respond to ​a request for comment. On Thursday, Sayyed said Beirut shelters were full.

When Israeli strikes began, Othman Yahyeh Dawood, a 41-year-old Sudanese man, put his two young sons on his motorcycle.

They drove 75 kilometres (46 miles) from the southern Lebanese town of Nabatieh to ​St. Joseph's, where they had sheltered in 2024.

"I ‌know the area is safe and there are people who will welcome us," he said.

"We don't know where to go; ​there's war there (in the south), war here (in Beirut), war in Sudan, and nowhere else to go," he said.

WASHINGTON/QUITO, March 6 (Reuters) - The U.S. and Ecuador carried out a joint operation targeting drug trafficking ‌operations in the South American country, authorities in both countries ‌said on Friday, with the U.S. calling the move "lethal kinetic operations."

Neither the U.S. Southern Command, ​a branch of its military that oversees forces in Latin America, nor Ecuador's defense ministry, said if anyone was killed or captured in the strike, which Ecuador dubbed operation "Total Extermination."

The operations used helicopters, aircraft, river boats and drones ‌to locate and bomb ⁠a drug traffickers' training camp in north-east Ecuador near the Colombian border, Ecuador's defense ministry said in a statement.

The ⁠camp belonged to the Comandos de la Frontera (CDF), a Colombian crime group made up of FARC dissidents, and had a capacity for 50 people, it ​added.

Ecuadorean President ​Daniel Noboa has made a military ​crackdown on organised crime a ‌cornerstone of his administration, and his government imposed tariffs on its larger neighbor Colombia, accusing it of not doing enough to fight drug trafficking.

He is set to travel to Miami this weekend to take part in the Trump administration's "Shield of the Americas" summit, which brings together many right-wing ‌leaders across the region with a focus ​on regional security and organized crime.

"The United ​States is a key ally ​in this fight," the defense ministry said.

"At the request ‌of Ecuador, the Department of War ​executed targeted action to ​advance our shared objective of dismantling narco-terrorist networks," Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell wrote on X.

The operation followed a similar U.S-Ecuadorean operation ​announced by the U.S. ‌Southern Command earlier this week.

Joseph Contreras, the 17-year-old son of former All-Star pitcher Jose Contreras, just spent Friday night dazzling the baseball world forTeam Brazil against USA, pitching so well that he can brag about it to his buddies at Blessed Trinity Catholic High School in Roswell, Georgia.

Contreras, stepping on the same mound where his father won the 2005 World Series championship with theChicago White Soxin Houston, faced the greatest hitters in the world and excelled.

He came into the game in the second inning, and retired Byron Buxton on a fly ball to right field, and then ran into trouble by giving up a double off the left-field wall to Brice Turang, and then issued back-to-back walks to Bobby Witt Jr and Bryce Harper to load the bases.

Next up, Aaron Judge, who just clobbered a home run in the first inning.

Contreras threw a 97-mph fastball past Judge for strike one. He missed with a 80-mph changeup. And came back with a 94.4-mph sinker that Judge hit to third baseman Leonardo Reginatto, who started an inning-ending double play.

Contreras danced to the dugout, his teammates all stood to congratulate him, and the professional scouts in the stands scribbled frantically.

If this kid was projected to be a second-round draft pick before the WBC, his stock just soared.

He may be committed to Vanderbilt, but after this night, well, they better come up with a whole lot more NIL money to make sure they get him.

"Can you imagine how much his stock will rise if he pitches well?'' said FOX announcer A.J. Pierznyski, who introduced himself to Contreras, telling him that he used to catch his father.

The youngster struggled a bit in his second inning by giving up a single to Kyle Schwarber, who eventually scored on Contreras' second wild pitch of the frame, and issued a walk to Cal Raleigh, knocking him out of the game. But the impression was made.

The kid just had a memory he'll cherish forever.

And, oh, how his high school teammates can't wait to hear all about that magical evening deep in the heart of Texas.

Geno Smith may have made his most accurate throw of the year after reports circulated on Friday that the Las Vegas Raiders are expected torelease the quarterbackwhen the new NFL year begins next week.

The social media account of fast-food chain Wendy's responded to the news by tagging Smith on X and offering him future employment.

"In case things don't work out in free agency we're looking for a Chief Tasting Officer,"the post said.

Smith responded with a rather sharp quip, perhaps implying that he didn't think Wendy's teasing was very funny. Or maybe he appreciated the dig and just came back stronger than anyone might have anticipated.

"Get ya cheese up 1st," Smith replied, telling Wendy's to make more money. But the post was accompanied by a screenshot of a February Restaurant Business article with the headline "Wendy's sales plunged last quarter."

The fast-food chain's sales dropped 11% last year,according to Restaurant Business. As a result, Wendy's will likely close approximately 300 to 350 of its locations (5-6% of its total restaurants) across the United States. The company is also looking for a new CEO.

If Smith wasn't a professional football player, he might not scoff at the Wendy's offer, which comes with a $100,000 salary,according to USA Today. But the 12-year NFL veteran stands to make much, much more on the free-agent market. (The Raiders are reportedly exploring possible trades, but other teams likely won't want to pay Smiththe $26.5 million salaryon his current contract.)

Among the teams reported to be interested are the Minnesota Vikings, Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets. Even if he signs a minimum contract, he'll likely make at least $1.3 million.

Smith didn't leave it at that reply, either. He followed up with two more posts taking shots at Wendy's.

"Out here selling poison trying to get jokes off on twitter," he said inthe first one. "Society in shambles."

Responding to a fan saying there was "beef" between Smith and Wendy's,the QB responded, "This beef is about as real as the beef in those patties they're selling."

Is it safe to say that Wendy's missed while Smith hit his target several times? He's a career 65.2% percent passer, after all, and is two seasons removed from completing 70.4% of his throws for the Seattle Seahawks.

So Wendy's will probably have to look elsewhere for its Chief Tasting Officer. Although if he was willing to sample products on camera, Smith surely couldn't do worse than McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski, whowent viral this weekfor appearing less than enthused while tasting the chain's new "Big Arch" burger.

That prompted CEOs from competing fast-food chains,including Wendy's, to respond. Perhaps that had the Wendy's social media account feeling emboldened enough to tag Smith and get smacked online in return.
