Duke coach Jon Scheyer provided an update and further context on the team staff member who was punched in the face during the court storm after the Blue Devils' 71-68 loss at rival North Carolina on Saturday.

"He's fine. But after the game, what happened was I came back in the locker room and I see he's got a bloody lip and he's disheveled and he didn't know what happened," Scheyer told reporters Monday. "He got trampled on the floor. That was my main concern after the game and that's why I said what I said.

"It was not a good situation. But he's doing better, he's fine. Ready to move on. I don't have anything more to say other than that was a very unsafe situation for him, our staff, our families, our players."

Tar Heels fans stormed the court twice, once prematurely after Seth Trimble's go-ahead 3-pointer with four-tenths of a second left on the clock and once again when the game was officially over.

North Carolina athletic director Bubba Cunningham apologized to Scheyer after the game, and the school was fined $50,000 by the Atlantic Coast Conference.

North Carolina coach Hubert Davis confirmed Monday morning that he had also been in contact with Scheyer about the incident.

While the loss was Duke's first since Dec. 20, snapping a 10-game winning streak, Scheyer was far more frustrated about the safety issue when talking to reporters after the game.

"For me, it's hard for me to talk about the game when I was most concerned just for the safety of our players after the game," Scheyer said Saturday. "I don't want to make it about that because Carolina, they played a great game to win, and that's a heartbreaking loss for our team.

"I got staff members that got punched in the face. My family pushing people away, trying to not get trampled. And that's not what this game is about. You give them all the credit in the world. It's not about the game, but obviously that was a scary ending, and this rivalry is not about that."

Majdic wins bronze with broken ribs, punctured lung

The 2010 Vancouver Games was the third Olympics for cross-country skier Petra Majdic of Slovenia. She had yet to win a medal. On the day of the women's individual sprint classic, she slipped while on her warm-up lap before the qualification time trial and fell about 10 feet into a gully.

"I was starting to scream badly. With that scream, I start to feel really bad pain in my back,"she told the Olympic Channel. "Somehow I climbed out of that hole."

Majdic powered through the qualification run and then saw a doctor, who gave her the OK to continue, she explained. She went back to the slopes and got through the quarterfinals and semifinals — andfinished third in the finalto take the bronze medal.

The pain was "killing me," but she had told herself "do not come back to Slovenia without a medal."

Majdic had to be helped onto the podium and was later hospitalized.

It turned out she had several broken ribs and a punctured lung, a further exam showed, according to Slovenia's state news agency.

Goggia takes silver medal on damaged knee

Italian skier Sofia Goggia knows a bit about racing with an injured knee, too. She sustained a partially torn knee ligament less than a month before winning thewomen's downhill silver medalat the 2022 Beijing Games.

Italy's team had said Goggia also had a "minor fracture" in that leg and some tendon damage.

She had been told she needed to use crutches for at least 10 days after her crash. She gave it three — and then started preparing to race.

Goggia even fell on a practice run and told her coach "I don't know if I can do this." Ultimately, she came close to repeating as Olympic champion, after having won gold at the 2018 Pyeongchang Games.

On Sunday,Goggia added a bronze medalto her Olympic collection.

Canadian moguls skier competes 1 month after ACL tear

Philippe Marquis relied on messages like "Keep Fighting" and "What ACL" to stay motivated after tearing his right ACL during training in Utah a month before the Pyeongchang Olympics in 2018. The Canadian moguls skier used a Sharpie to write the messages on his gloves. They included "Engage" and "Fire."

The Quebec native finished 20th.

Adam Gase will be back on the sideline after five years away from the game. The Los Angeles Chargers reportedly hired Adam Gase in an offensive assistant coach role, according toNFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Gase was formerly the head coach of the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins. He had a combined 32-48 record in his two stints as a head coach. The 47-year-old was also the former offensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears. During his stops, Gase worked closely with Peyton Manning, Jay Cutler and Sam Darnold.

Gase is now expected to work closely with Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert. Last season, Herbert threw for 3,727 yards, 27 touchdowns and 13 interceptions despite playing through a fractured left hand late in the season. The 27-year-old quarterback is a two-time Pro Bowler and the 2020 Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Last season, the Chargers ranked 18th in passing yards and did not have a receiver with over 800 receiving yards.

Gase will be part of the coaching overhaul the Chargers have made this offseason. After the Chargers' 16-3 wild-card loss to the New England Patriots, the team fired offensive coordinator Greg Roman. Former Miami Dolphins head coachMike McDanielreplaced Roman as offensive coordinator.

On January 30, the U.S. Department of Justice released the latest batch of the Epstein files, which not only included the former Duke and Duchess of York but also Beatrice and Eugenie, albeit only in association with emails and photographs sent to Epstein by their parents. In one email, Sarah indicates that her daughters will join her for a Miami lunch with Epstein—though it was just days after his release from prison in 2009; at the time, Beatrice and Eugenie were 20 years old and 19 years old, respectively. Regardless, as a source toldHello!, "The sisters are not abandoning their father."

"They aren't turning their backs on him," the friend added. "But everything is obviously very strained and hard."

Veteran royal biographer Robert Jobson told the outlet that Beatrice and Eugenie "must be overwhelmed and aghast by this." Of their mother, he added, "What was she thinking? Taking her daughters—the late Queen [Elizabeth]'s granddaughters—to meet this vile, convicted animal? It really beggars belief."

Andrew and Sarah surrendered their Duke and Duchess of York titles in October; by the end of the month,King Charleshad stripped Andrew of all of his royal titles and privileges, though Beatrice and Eugenie retain their princess titles and Her Royal Highness stylings. Following the latest Epstein files drop, both Andrew and Sarah have moved out of their 30-room mansion in Windsor, Royal Lodge, with Andrew heading for the Sandringham estate and Sarah "lying low at an overseas spa while considering her future and where she is going to live," according toHello!.

"She is in a bad way and feeling very guilty," Jobson said. "The last time I was in touch with her, she was worried about her mental health and mulling over the 'what ifs.'" Jobson continued, "The girls have been very sympathetic to her, but that might start to unravel. You have to wonder if they will ever be seen in public with her again."

Beatrice and Eugenie's decision to spend Christmas with King Charles and the royal family at Sandringham "speaks volumes," he added. "It might be hard to rebuild what they had. It's sad for them, but the real tragedy is for the victims."

Jobson toldPeoplethat Beatrice and Eugenie trusted Andrew in that he had done nothing wrong, and "they feel pretty duped by the whole thing," he said.

"I do think they believed their father, and now it has all backfired," he added. "I know that Eugenie, especially, has found it very difficult." He continued, "They are older and mothers themselves now and will be thinking this is appalling."

"I have sympathy for them," Jobson said. "It's not their fault who their parents were associated with."

According to a source speaking toThe Times, Beatrice and Eugenie are "likeable, they carry themselves well, and work hard at their jobs." Longtime royal biographer Ingrid Seward also told the outlet that the sisters "will be worried and saddened for both their mother and father, though, and anxious about the future for them."

"They both absolutely adore their father and want the best for him," a source who has worked closely with the family toldThe Times. "But they also crave privacy as much as possible."

"My hair got longer, Mae loves music lessons and stick on earrings and drawing pictures, I picked up oil pastels and they took me to the beach, Helen turned 8 and memorized a John Updike poem, did a book report on the Wizard of Oz, started running track and drew what the music of the week felt like," she continued.

Feb 9 (Reuters) - A U.S. judge in New York ​on Monday temporarily put ‌her ruling on hold forcing the ‌Trump administration to lift a four-month-old freeze on federal funding for the $16 billion ⁠Hudson Tunnel ‌Project connecting New York City and New Jersey.

U.S. ‍District Judge Jeannette Vargas on Friday had ordered the funding ​restored. The Justice Department ‌had warned it would be required by 1 p.m Monday to disburse up to $200 million in funds for the ⁠project unless her ​order halted.

Vargas said ​she would put her order on hold until ‍Thursday ⁠5 p.m. to give the Second Circuit U.S. Court ⁠of Appeals time to consider ‌the government's emergency request.
