Drake Maye injury update: Patriots QB addresses shoulder at press conference

Drake Mayeappeared on theNew England Patriots' injury report for the first time of the 2025 NFL season less than two weeks ahead of his team'sSuper Bowl 60matchup with theSeattle Seahawks.

Maye was estimated to bea "limited" participanton the Patriots' Jan. 28 practice report because of an injury to his right shoulder.

The Patriots did not actually practice on Jan. 28, and Mike Vrabel expressed little concern about Maye's injury during a news conference the previous day. Nonetheless, many will be watching the second-year quarterback's status with a keen eye as he battles an injury in his throwing shoulder.

Here are the latest updates about Maye's injury as the 23-year-old prepares to make his first-ever Super Bowl start in just his second season.

Drake Maye injury update

Maye provided a positive update about his shoulder injury when asked about it by reporters during a post-practice media availability on Jan. 29.

"Yeah, I feel good,"Maye said. "Got out there, moved around a good bit today, and went in to do some jog-throughs, so, feeling good."

Maye also indicated he would be ready to play in Super Bowl 60, which is set to kick off on Feb. 8.

"I'm looking forward to be ready to go," Maye said. "This is the game you dream of playing in, so looking forward to getting out there and getting a chance to play in the Super Bowl."

Maye further expressed his belief that his shoulder injury isn't anything severe and shouldn't limit him greatly as he prepares to suit up for the Super Bowl.

"I think it's just been one of those things where it's a long season," Maye explained. "Sometimes, things show up. I'll do whatever I can to, you know, feel 100% and I'm sure I'll get if not there as close as I can or 99[%] or do whatever I can to make sure, I'm throwing and, like I said, do whatever I can to help the team win."

Vrabel also addressed Maye's injuryduring his Jan. 29 media availability. Notably, he told reporters the 23-year-old quarterback's injury was new and not an aggravation of a previous injury, as such a malady would have been listed on the injury report.

Additionally, Vrabel expressed he wasn't overly concerned about Maye's injury as Super Bowl 60 approaches.

"I try not to have a whole lot of concern," Vrabel said. "I just want to try to prepare the football team, make sure that everybody's read, that we all have a plan, not to surprise anybody and make sure that our guys are focusing on the first and second down plan."

NBC reportedly lands Clayton Kershaw, Joey Votto and Anthony Rizzo for network's 2026 return to MLB coverage

January 29, 2026
NBC reportedly lands Clayton Kershaw, Joey Votto and Anthony Rizzo for network's 2026 return to MLB coverage

NBC will have some well-known names in the studio when it returns to covering Major League Baseball this year.

The network is finalizing deals with Clayton Kershaw, Joey Votto and Anthony Rizzo to join its broadcasts for 2026 and beyond, according to Front Office Sports.

Collectively, the group brings playing experience that includes a combined 49 years in MLB with 20 All-Star nods, 6 Gold Gloves, 3 Cy Young Awards, 2 MVPs, 2 Roberto Clemente Awards and 4 World Series titles. All three were reportedly sought-after names in the broadcast world this winter, and NBC got them all.

It's unclear how the exact roles will break down here, but it's easy enough to imagine a studio show with the trio reminiscent of what Fox Sports does with Derek Jeter, David Ortiz and Alex Rodriguez. Kershaw, who retired from MLB after last season butstill plans to pitch in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, is reportedly expected to work a limited schedule.

Votto last played in MLB in 2023 and has long been known as one of the game's most insightful players. Rizzo last played in 2024 and officially retired in September, concluding a career that saw him play several years in two big markets and help end the Chicago Cubs' 108-year World Series drought.

NBC's lengthy tenure as an MLB broadcast partner ended in 2000, when Fox took over the league's biggest games, butthe network struck a deal last year that will see it pay nearly $200 million per year for "Sunday Night Baseball," formerly of ESPN, and a "Sunday Leadoff" package, as well as the wild-card round of the playoffs.

The Peacock streaming platform will be the exclusive home of many of those games,as its broadcast schedule lays out. Peacock also streamed those "Sunday Leadoff" games in 2022 and 2023.

Between this MLB deal, a recent reunion with the NBA and its 10-figure agreement with the Big Ten that began in 2023, NBC — already the home of the NFL's "Sunday Night Football" and the Olympics — has been betting more on sports than ever before.

Justin Rose posts 62 for Farmers lead; Brooks Koepka 1 over in tour return

Justin Rose posts 62 for Farmers lead; Brooks Koepka 1 over in tour return

Englishman Justin Rose breezed to a bogey-free, 10-under-par 62 to take the first-round lead at the Farmers Insurance Open on Thursday in San Diego.

Rose had five birdies on each nine at Torrey Pines' North Course and could have tied the course record with a birdie at his final hole, the par-5 ninth. After hitting a greenside bunker, he failed to convert a short birdie putt.

Rose's 10th birdie at the previous hole -- the par-3 eighth, where he stuck his tee shot to a few feet from the pin -- moved him past Justin Lower (9 under) for the outright lead. Max Greyserman and Japan's Hideki Matsuyama share third at 8 under.

All four started the tournament on the North Course and will have to face the more challenging South Course on Friday. Everyone in the 147-man field plays one round at each course, then those who make the 36-hole cut spend the weekend on the South Course.

The best round of the day at the South Course belonged to Irishman Seamus Power, who finished at 7-under-par 65 after birdieing the last three holes.

Brooks Koepka shot 1 over at the South Course in his first round back on the PGA Tour. After spending most of the last four years on LIV Golf, Koepka rejoined the PGA Tour this season by mutual agreement that included a financial penalty. This tournament marked his first start in a non-major on tour since March 2022.

Koepka did not make a birdie until the par-5 18th, where he overshot the green on his second stroke but chipped to within 8 feet.

"I didn't hit enough fairways," said Koepka, who made just six of 14 fairways in regulation. "If I was able to get to the back of the ball, I felt like I hit a good quality shot. Didn't really make any putts besides 18 right there.

"Yeah, it felt good. It's been a while since I played competitive golf, so I like the way I'm playing, I just need to kind of play my way into it."

The five-time major winner wasn't the only marquee name who struggled on the South Course. Xander Schauffele also opened with a 1-over 73 there, as did defending champion Harris English. Sweden's Ludvig Aberg, a top 20 player in the world rankings, parred his first hole before registering five bogeys in a row. He landed in a tie for last at 6-over 78.

Rose, 45, won this tournament in 2019 and continues to enjoy a late-career renaissance, having pushed Rory McIlroy to a playoff at the 2025 Masters before going on to win the first FedEx Cup playoff event, the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

"It feels like a similar weather week to when I won (in 2019), you know, and I feel like it was the kind of week that you had to kind of keep going low and keep playing well," Rose said. "I think I got it to 21 under par at some point during the tournament, so you know this tournament can also be a tournament where you feel like 9, 10, 11 under par's a really good week.

"So it will be interesting to see how the course plays, if the greens get really firm on the South over the weekend makes it always tough. So it's going to be a balance of being able to play some great golf because of the conditions, but also respecting a major championship-style track."

Before Rose, Lower boasted the round of the day thanks to eagles at the par-5 17th and ninth holes, finishing on the latter.

"(I) chipped in on 17 and then once I started hitting fairways, it got a little easier from there," Lower said. "... And then 9 I just, I mean, I hit a really good tee shot, was almost a little too close. Then was able to kind of feather a 5-wood in there and had 27 feet and was able to make it. Just some of it's luck, some of it's good golf."

Lower, 36, hunts for his first PGA Tour win as does Greyserman, who has compiled five runner-up finishes in his young career. The 29-year-old was 9 under before making his only bogey on the 18th hole.

"You've really got to take advantage of that North Course out in this tournament," Greyserman said. "I think I saw a stat last week that the lower you shoot on the North Course, it gives you a big advantage obviously because the South is tougher."

  • The Pitt finally addresses Tracy Ifeachor's exit from the show

  • Episode 4 of the second season of the hit medical drama sees Noah Wyle's Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch overhear his team discussing Ifeachor's senior resident Dr. Heather Collins

The Pittfinally addressesTracy Ifeachor's exit from the show.

Episode 4 of the second season of the hit medical drama, which aired Jan. 29, seesNoah Wyle's Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch overhear his team discussing Ifeachor's senior resident Dr. Heather Collins. As it turns out, she is thriving outside of the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center.

First year resident Dr. Dennis Whitaker, played by Gerran Howell, checks in on Louie Cloverfield, a recurring patient at the hospital. The patient, portrayed by Ernest Harden Jr., struggles with alcohol addiction and is also featured in the first season.

"How's the tooth feeling?" he asks Louie, who is experiencing major tooth pain in addition to withdrawal symptoms.

"The whole side of my face is numb," Louie says, to which Whitaker responds, "That's how we like it." The doctor is joined by new med student James Ogilvie, played by Lucas Iverson, and the two plan the patient's treatment.

As they discuss Louie's diagnosis, he says, "Is Dr. Collins around? The sister always helps me out." Robby peeks his head into the room and hears Whitaker tell Louie, "Dr. Collins finished her residency and took up a job in Portland as an attending physician."

Robby watches intently as Whitaker delivers the news. "Portland?" Louie asks, and Whitaker explains that Dr. Collins is from the city. "She's adopting a baby and wanted to be closer to her family," he continues.

Robby's face falls as he closes the door and walks away.

Wyle, who also writes, produces and directs the show, takes PEOPLE behind the scenes of the major reveal.

"We wanted to keep it interesting. The moment you find out what her character's been up to, that was a scene I wasn't supposed to be in," he tells PEOPLE exclusively. "It was really just a scene between Whitaker and Louie, where he says he wants to be treated by a Black doctor, preferably Dr. Collins, who he had a rapport with. And then he's informed that she's not working there."

"I remember thinking, 'This is an interesting opportunity.' What if I poke my head in that door and get that little bit of information about where she is?" Wyle, 54, continues. "Hearing somebody else talk about it and getting the audience to see how that lands with him could be significant."

Robby had abudding romancewith Collins in the first season, but now he's catching the attention of a few other women in the workplace. This season, he has flirted with case manager Noelle Hastings (Meta Golding) and shared a lingering look withhis temporary replacementDr. Baran Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi) after she suggested they go out to coffee.

Wyle says these encounters are a bit of a red flag.

"It depends on which frame you put around it. On one hand you could say, 'Oh, look at that. Robby's got a social life.' On the other hand, you look at it and go, ''Oh, Robby's got a social life where there's always an out.' There's always an escape hatch. There's always a ticking clock on it, and a point at which he's not willing to go any farther," he says.

"We're looking at somebody who flirts with connection but isn't capable of connection. There is no character who talks about having gone to dinner with Robby or having hung out with Robby. We never get a sense that he sees any of these people really, except for Noelle, outside the hospital. And even in that relationship, they keep it very professional at work to have anybody speculate," the actor explains.

"So you could look at it and go, 'Oh, it's cool that he's feeling good enough to date. But on the other hand, it's just another form of half-assed therapy,' " Wyle says.

The actortold PEOPLE ahead of the season 2 premierethat Robby considers Collins "the one that got away."

"He could not have given her what she wanted," he said. "She was a rockstar on an ascension that he would only have been an impediment towards. And if she's found happiness, God bless."

"We always had a plan for that sort of trajectory for that character. The show is set in a teaching hospital. People come and go all the time," Gemmill said.

Ariana Grande Snubs Nicki Minaj Following Donald Trump Controversy

Ariana Grande Snubs Nicki Minaj Following Donald Trump Controversy

Ariana Grandehas drawn renewed scrutiny over the state of her relationship withNicki Minajafter revisiting her Coachella 2019 performance in a recent interview withVogue, and conspicuously leaving the rapperout of her reflections.

The throwback came as the 32-year-old singer looked back on her historic headlining set at the music festival, breaking down her set list and the surprise guests who joined her onstage.

While she spoke warmly about some collaborators, viewers quickly noticed that Minaj, who had performed with her during the first weekend of Coachella, was never mentioned.

For some fans, the omission has taken on added weight amid Nicki Minaj's recent political positioning and her public alignment withDonald Trump, a sharp contrast to Grande's outspoken support for Democratic causes.

Fans are speculating that Ariana Grande has cut ties with Nicki Minaj after omitting her from a Coachella 2019 retrospective

In the video,Ariana Grandeexplained that her Coachella performance closely mirrored her Sweetener tour, with a few notable additions.

"The set list for Coachella was pretty much the same as theSweetenertour, except we added some special guests," she said.

"I remember we had NSYNC come out with me, which was really cool. We didTear in My Heartand I got to do the original geography with them, which was the dream of my life."

The singerlater went even further, calling NSYNC "the best boy band."

What stood out to fans was thatGrandedid not acknowledge Nicki Minaj, despite the 43-year-old rapper joining her onstage during the first weekend of Coachella 2019.

Videos from the festival also show that Grande skipped over other guest performers from that weekend, including Sean "Diddy" Combs, and Mase.

The silence extended to the second weekend as well, when Justin Bieber made an unplanned appearance that went unmentioned in Grande's recap.

The omission was notable given Grande and Minaj's long history of collaboration

Before Coachella 2019, the two released their single,Bed,and had previously worked together on tracks that defined a period of both of theircareers.

During the festival, Minaj joined Grande for performances ofSide to SideandBang Bang, though the set was marred by technical difficulties.

Minaj was reportedly unable to hear the music in her earpieces, an issue that became evident mid-performance.

In footage from the show,Grandecould be heard telling the crowd, "We can't hear anything," while pointing to her ear as Minaj continued singing. The two later exchanged a smile, appearing to brush off the issue.

That moment was later brought up by fans as the potential reason for Grande's omission.

"Why would she bring up aperformancethat was potentially sabotaged?" one asked.

"The performance went down as one of the worst for both of them, due to sound issues rather than their own fault."

Fans believe the true reason behind the omission is Nicki Minaj's public support of Donald Trump

"Ariana's brother is gay, and Nicki has been attacking the Dems and LGBTQ community," a fan wrote.

"She might not want to outwardly cause drama and vocalize her feelings with Nicki, but that friendship is done."

Others provided examples of what they saw as "proof" of their alleged rift.

"Ariana also didn't acknowledge Nicki withSide to Sidewhen she broke down each of her hit songs that have surpassed 1 billion streams, but praised her other fellow collaborators like Lady Gaga and The Weeknd.

"When will you just accept that their friendship is long gone…"

Last month,Minajappeared onstage at a Turning Point USA event alongside Erika Kirk, the widow of Charlie Kirk.

During the event, Minaj expressed admiration for Trump and for JD Vance, who received an endorsement from Kirk.

Grande, by contrast, publicly backed Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential election and has continued to use her platform to push forward Democratic causes.

Just last weekend, she reposted a tweet following the fatal sh**ting of intensive care nurse Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The post, shared by the Mayor of New York,Zohran Mamdani, read:

"As tens of thousands across America protest the violence that ICE sows with impunity, federal agents s*ot and ki**ed another personal in Minneapolis today. ICE terrorizes our cities. ICE puts us all in danger. Abolish ICE."

Trump sues IRS and Treasury for $10B over leaked tax info

President Donald Trump is suing the IRS and Treasury Department for $10 billion, as he accuses the federal agencies of a failure to prevent a leak of the president's tax information to news outlets.

The suit, filed in a Florida federal court on Thursday, was also brought by Eric Trump, Donald Trump Jr. and the Trump organization as plaintiffs.

In 2024, former IRS contractor Charles Edward Littlejohn of Washington, D.C. — who worked for Booz Allen Hamilton, a defense and national security tech firm — was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to leaking tax information about Trump and others to news outlets.

Littlejohn gave data to The New York Times and ProPublica between 2018 and 2020 in leaks that appeared to be "unparalleled in the IRS's history," prosecutors said.

Trump's suit states that Littlejohn's disclosures to the news organizations "caused reputational and financial harm to Plaintiffs and adversely impacted President Trump's support among voters in the 2020 presidential election."

The president's suit comes after the U.S. Treasury Department announced it has cut its contracts with Booz Allen Hamilton, earlier this week, after Littlejohn, who worked for the firm, was charged and subsequently imprisoned for leaking tax information to news outlets about thousands of the country's wealthiest people, including the president.

Representatives of Treasury and the IRS were not immediately available for comment.
