"Four more to go," he said with a smile.

Durant scored 27 points inHouston's win over the Miami Heat on Saturday nightto move past Jordan.

Durant, who was the second overall pick in the 2007 draft, had 21 points entering the fourth quarter and made a 3-pointer with less than five minutes left to inch close to passing Jordan. He did it on his next shot, sinking another 3 from nearly the same spot in the right corner to give him 32,294 points, two more than Jordan.

He briefly lifted his arms in triumph after draining the shot as the home crowd went wild.

Durant was asked if had a favorite memory of Jordan or a best interaction with the superstar.

"No. That's like asking me do I got a favorite Drake song," he said. "No, they're just all great. MJ has so many great moments. He just personifies iconic god level – just everything that I believe in, he personifies."

He missed a shot that would have won the game for Houston in the final seconds, but Amen Thompson tipped in the miss to give the Rockets the 123-122 victory.

Thompson, who was 4 when Durant was a rookie, is in awe of the veteran's accomplishments.

"That's legendary," he said. "Just being on a team with greatness like that, it's inspiring, for sure. And witnessing him break these records, it's been cool to watch."

The Rockets played a video commemorating the milestone just before the final play. It featured highlights of Durant along with some of Jordan as the fans rose to their feet to laud him.

Durant had already eclipsed Wilt Chamberlain (31,419) and Dirk Nowitzki (31,560) this season before moving up again Saturday. Next up on the esteemed list is Kobe Bryant, who's fourth with 33,643 points.

"It's an honor for everybody to be a part of that," coach Ime Udoka said. "And as KD has said in the past, I don't think he cares much about it in the moment. He's really focused on the season and what we're trying to accomplish, but I don't want to just make it an afterthought. Passing Michael Jordan is obviously a huge accomplishment and we celebrated that with him."

Durant is in his 19th year in the league, but he sat out the entire 2019-20 season with an injury. He's in his first season in Houston since a blockbuster trade from Phoenix last summer.

The 16-time All-Star and four-time Olympic gold medalist is a four-time scoring champion and a two-time NBA Finals MVP. He has two NBA titles, was the MVP in 2013-14 and is an 11-time All-NBA selection.

Durant said he has been inspired by everyone at the top of the scoring list and he hopes to continue to inspire those who come after him. But it's difficult for him to fully embrace what this accomplishment means to his career and legacy right now.

"It's cool, but it's hard to take in when you're still on the journey, when you just care about getting better," he said. "I don't ever want to downplay stuff like that, but I've got to get up and come to work tomorrow."

Iowa State star Joshua Jefferson unlikely to play vs. Kentucky in NCAA tourney due to sprained ankle

Iowa State star Joshua Jefferson unlikely to play vs. Kentucky in NCAA tourney due to sprained ankle

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Iowa State forward Joshua Jefferson is a long shot to play in the No. 2 seed Cyclones' game against No. 7 seed Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament on Sunday after the All-American arrived at the arena for practice with a boot still on his sprained left ankle.

The Cyclones' second-leading scorer and top rebounder was hurt about 2 1/2 minutes into Friday's108-74 rout of Queenswhen he landed awkwardly on his ankle following a layup. Jefferson needed help from their training staff to leave the court, and while X-rays were negative, the 6-foot-9 forward wound up watching the rest of the game from the bench.

He was still using crutches to help him get around as the Cyclones practiced Saturday at Enterprise Center.

"Right now we're continuing to evaluate," Iowa State coach T.J. Otzelberger said. "It appears unlikely but you never want to rule out anything. We'll just continue to do what we can in his best interest and we'll be prepared to go either way."

Jefferson said he was doing "as much rehab as I can," but time is not on his side.

"A lot of compression and then moving it around," Jefferson said, when asked what he can do to help his recovery. "The best thing right now is to get it moving as much as I can, and then start to be able to walk again."

Jefferson is averaging 16.4 points, 7.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists for the Cyclones, who matched the best NCAA seed in school history and are trying to reach their first Final Four since 1944. Those across-the-board numbers are a big reason why Jefferson wasa second-team AP All-Americanthis season, missing out on the first team by a single point in voting.

"It definitely affects us. What he does is special. Not a lot of people can do what he does," Cyclones guard Jamarion Batemon said, "but the preparation we put in — we've got a deep bench, and players are ready to step up when their number is called."

Iowa State has experience playing without one of its most important players. Tamin Lipsey missed multiple games after getting hurt during the Players Era Festival early in the season; the veteran point guard also hurt his groin in the Big 12 Tournament.

"So that allowed us to play with some different lineups," said Blake Buchanan, whose interior presence will be counted upon even more should Jefferson be unable to play. "Our staff does a good job of having confidence in us and knowing what we can do.

"It's unfortunate with J-Jeff," Buchanan said, "but they have confidence that, yeah, he's out, but we have other guys that can play."

Kentucky coach Mark Pope said the Wildcats would prepare as if Jefferson will play on Sunday. But he also said what the Cyclones do probably won't change a whole lot regardless of who Otzelberger is able to put on the floor.

"They have such an ingrained identity of who they are," Pope said. "He's a special player, don't get me wrong, but Iowa State is going to be Iowa State whoever T.J. rolls out on the court. He could grab five guys from the rec center and come out in a week and be an incredibly intense defensive juggernaut, and find ways to score. We'll prepare for who Iowa State is."

Jefferson, a senior from Las Vegas, began his career at Saint Mary's, where his sophomore season was cut short by an injury. Once he transferred to Iowa State, he flourished into a team leader, helping the Cyclones reach the second round of the NCAA tourney last year.

Jefferson's fervent hope is the Cyclones can go at least one more step, and give him another opportunity to suit up this season.

"The fact that he did get injured early (Thursday) allowed some guys who haven't played as much expand their role a little bit. That was good that way," Buchanan said. "Obviously we hope he can be out there with us; he's an All-American and a big part of our team. But T.J. just told us to honor him in everything we do if he can't be out there."

Winners (Team USA) and losers (NFL players) from Fanatics Flag Football Classic

NFL players have work to do if they want to compete with the best in flag football. Team USA's flag football teamwent undefeated against two teams filled with NFL playersand celebrities in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic at Los Angeles' BMO Stadium on Saturday.

USA TODAY Sports

Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels' Wildcats team lost two games to Team USA, including the championship bought, while Tom Brady and Jalen Hurts' Founders squad was pummeled by Team USA and lost to the Wildcats as well to cap a winless day.

Here are the winners and losers from Saturday's Fanatics Flag Football Classic:

Winners

Darrell Doucette III

Doucette, a U.S. national team quarterback, made headlines when he said he was better at flag football than three-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes, but he backed up his words on Saturday. Doucette scored six total touchdowns and was named MVP of the event.

He made an early statement Saturday with the first touchdown of the day, and Team USA jumped out to an early 12-0 lead when Isaiah Calhoun intercepted Burrow and ran it into the end zone.

Team USA had a comfortable 19-6 lead over the Wildcats halftime, and routed the Wildcats 39-14 in the first game.

In the second contest, Team USA scored 24 unanswered points in the first half, had no incomplete passes and obliterated Brady's Founders 43-16 to advance to the championship game.

The Wildcats earned a spot in the championship game by defeated the Founders. They fared better in a rematch with Team USA, but Doucette scored three touchdowns in his team's 24-14 victory.

Doucette and Team USA scored on 14 of their 15 drives on Saturday.

Odell Beckham Jr.

The free-agent wide receiver hada one-handed touchdown grabthat reminded fans of his most famous touchdown catch. The veteran NFL wide receiver made a couple plays that suggested his football days might not be behind him.

Beckham had another nice touchdown reception when he high pointed the football in the back of the end zone for a TD in the third game.

NFL receiver-needy teams might have been impressed by his performance.

Jalen Hurts, DeVonta Smith connection

The Hurts-Smith connection is in midseason form. Playing together on the Founders, Hurts hit Smith in stride for a long touchdown in the first half against the Wildcats.

Hurts and Smith were on the same page on multiple completions throughout the day, and Smith caught two touchdowns. He was one of few bright spots for the winless Founders team.

Wildcats improvements

The Wildcats strategically tried to drain the clock during the first half of their second game against Team USA. Burrow, Daniels and the Wildcats were tied the game 6-6 late in the first half, but Team USA scored a go-ahead touchdown late to go into halftime with a 12-6 lead.

The Wildcats would eventually go down 24-14, but the game was a lot more competitive than the other contests.

Davante Adams and Daniels each scored a touchdown.

Tom Brady gives solid performance

Brady eluded pressure from a Team USA defender and threw a laser on fourth-and-goal to the back of the end zone to Stefon Diggs for a touchdown during his team's first game of the day.

On the ensuing play, Brady found his old buddy Rob Gronkowski for a two-point conversion.

Unfortunately, Gronkowski tweaked his hamstring on the two-point conversion and didn't return.

Brady finished 8-of-12 for 71 yards and two touchdowns in two games.

Losers

Founders

The Founders ended the Fanatics Flag Football Classic winless. They were pummeled by Team USA and then got beat, 34-26 by their NFL peers, the Wildcats.

Wildcats, Founders defense vs. Team USA

NFL players had a difficult time snatching the flag from Team USA ball carriers. In flag football, it is illegal to grab and hold on shirts and shorts. NFL players were penalized multiple times as they attempted to slow down Team USA ball carriers as they tried to grab at flags.

The two defenses gave up a combined 106 points in three total games.

NFL players on Wildcats and Founders

All the NFL players on the field were humbled by Team USA's flag football squad. The two NFL squads tried to get accustomed to flag football, but they looked overmatched by an experienced and elite group of flag footballers who are well trained at the game. The U.S. national team has won five straight world titles and they showed why on Saturday.

NEED TO KNOW

  • His wife, Vivian, planned the party by gathering loved ones, who pretended to shop before surprising him in the aisles

  • "We used to go clubbing in the disco days, but now this is our club," Vivian said of their love for Costco

A California man got a dream surprise for his birthday thanks to his wife, who organized a party with loved ones at his favorite place:Costco.

Wil Cid has been a member of the retail chain since 1988 initially via Price Club, which was a Costco competitor before the brands merged as PriceCostco in 1993 and got renamed to just Costco in 1997.

He explained toABC 10, "I used to go to the Burbank Price Club when I lived down there. ... They've been reliable for 37 years. If something happens, you can bring it back without any problem."

Wil is now a longtime Roseville resident with his wife, Vivian, who recently decided to throw him a surprise party at the new Costco location in Roseville's Baseline Marketplace.

"He's a total fan of Costco," Vivian said. "He knows everybody at the other store at Stanford Ranch and they'll say, 'Hi Wil.' I always laugh and say, 'Why do they know your name?' "

Vivian's plan was to gather all of Wil's closest friends and family, who would then pretend to shop at the Roseville Costco and casually happen to encounter Wil in the gigantic aisles. She wanted to "see how long it takes Wil to figure out something's up."

"I told them, 'This is how we club at our age,' " Vivian said about the group chat that was used to plan the party. "We used to go clubbing in the disco days, but now this is our club."

"Immediately, he called me and said, 'Guess who's here?' " Vivian recalled.

"The first couple kind of threw me off," Wil said. "I thought maybe they were shopping, but then after the third couple, I realized there's something going on here."

During Wil's journey through Costco, Vivian moved to the food court where the entire party was gathered. He was pleasantly surprised. the party's menu consisted of traditional Costco items, including large pizza slices and a cake.

"I was kind of looking forward to a steak that night," Wil said, jokingly. "A steak, sweet potato and carrot cake, and it ended up being pizza and cake."

"The fact that she took the time to do it was really nice," he added lovingly about his wife.

Hollywood outlet slammed for saying Chuck Norris' politics, 'cop-aganda' overshadowed his legacy

A major Hollywood media outlet is getting backlash online from top Republicans and conservatives after publishing a column Friday arguing that Chuck Norris' film legacy is overshadowed by politics.

Fox News

The Variety opinionpiece argues that many of the roles Norris played throughout his career were centered on a lone ranger who takes the law into his own hands, which is difficult to perceive in today's tumultuous political climate.

The headline said, "Chuck Norris Was a Great Action Star — butPoliticsMay Overshadow His Legacy."

"In nearly every Norris movie, he's muscling into a foreign land or othered community, kicking a bunch of a--, completing his mission and hitting the road — or neutralizing the new threat that came intohistown," the Variety article stated.

"Chuck Norris was an action legend and a great American. "Variety" is an example of why so many people detest the media," Florida Gov.Ron DeSantisresponded on X.

Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., also weighed in, blasting the outlet in a sharply worded response posted to X on Friday.

"Chuck Norris spent an enormous amount of time celebrating what was great about America with those who kept us free and safe. And you showed in your arrogance why we hate Hollywood."

Fox News Digitalhas reached out to Variety for comment but did not immediately hear back.

Norris died Thursdayand is remembered as an action star of the 1970s and 1980s, starring in films like "Delta Force" and "Lone Wolf McQuade" and TV shows. He was 86.

Regarding Norris' 1990s-era TV show "Walker, Texas Ranger," Variety said "the black-and-white, right-and-wrong simplicity of 'Walker' is cop-aganda nonetheless."

Variety further contended that Norris' roles are being remembered in a different, darker light within today's divided political climate.

Chuck Norris' Death Inspires Tributes As Sylvester Stallone, Jean-claude Van Damme Lead Hollywood Reactions

Chuck Norris in 'Hero And The Terror'

"His roles were part of a body of work used to show American strength, might and the pernicious attraction of taking the law into one's own hands — something that seems less fun in a year in which our country is funneling money into bombing Iran and ICE agents are acting like one-man militias."

Variety columnist William Earl suggested that, given the moral division plaguing the nation, it is easier to see Norris' characters as justification for "fringe conspiracy" rather than a good-cop moral standing.

"But it gives me hope for the future, where outrageous law enforcement and one-man militias are fantasy, only in a world seen on a VHS copy of 1985's "Invasion U.S.A.," Earl said.

"Then we can be thankful it's just a movie."

The piece garnered swift and pointed criticism, with prominent conservatives knocking the publication for its critique of aHollywood iconso soon after his death.

"This is total trash. Absolute garbage, bulls---, propaganda nonsense, leftist ideology trash. Screw you Variety," @mattvanswol wrote.

Can you name all 25 of these iconic TV shows from a single image?

The landscape is shifting for the world of streaming platforms, with television shows now boasting higher production values and nuanced narratives.

Can you guess the iconic TV show from just one image?

While there used to be a larger gap in quality, budget, and actors when it came to television vs. film, that divide has ended. More and more big-name celebrities are moving to TV in 2026—Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan in "Beef," Rachel Weisz in "Vladimir"—and larger budgets are scaled out for television productions. In 2022, "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" became the most expensive per-episode show of all time, with an average$58 million budget per episode.

Of course, having an impressive cast list or a massive budget doesn't guarantee that a show will stick around in the pop culture consciousness.Stackercompiled 25 scenes from iconic television shows using findings fromIMDBandRolling Stone. What makes a television show iconic is largely subjective to each viewer's taste, and shows for this list were selected while taking into consideration ratings, viewership numbers, and popularity. Shesits aloneat a bar, a rare occurrence in the cookie-cutter facade she and her husband have created. The show won 16 Primetime Emmys during its seven-season run and makes an antihero out of the inherently flawed Don Draper, played by Jon Hamm. Elisabeth Moss, January Jones, and Christina Hendricks bring top-tier performances to nuanced characters learning to play the game in a man's world.

-

Scene #4

This long-running British science fiction series goes campy most of the time, but this episode is iconic for being a fear-inducing fan favorite. Just remember not to blink.

-

'Doctor Who' (2005-present)

The weeping angels and a young Carey Mulligan in "Doctor Who" delighted viewers andcriticswho lauded it for its performances and storytelling, despite barely featuring the titular 10th doctor played by David Tennant. Theweeping angelswere introduced as an ancient species who can only move when their victim's back is turned or their eyes are shut.

-

Scene #5

Taylor Schilling stars as the protagonist and inmate we love to hate in this esteemed and controversial women-led series. In this scene, the character grapples with her loyalties amid the web of lies which landed her in prison in the first place.

-

'Orange is the New Black' (2013-2019)

"Orange is the New Black" wascritically laudedand marked a new direction forNetflix original shows, with captivating, emotional performances and witty, dramatic writing. We only got five seasons of "Key and Peele," but the show remains incredibly popular due to its social commentary and ensuing hilarity. Both members of this hilarious duo lean heavily into character, creating short but memorable sketches that will be quoted and beloved for many years to come. In this sketch, an aerobics dancer experiences a meltdown and attacks his co-dancer on live television, after suspecting him of targeting his family as a result of a vendetta against him.

-

Scene #8

The first season's main villain played by Raymond Cruz had an unforgettable role as an unpredictable and dangerous drug kingpin in this wildly popular American crime drama. Set in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the series ran for five seasons and followed the protagonist's descent into a drug empire.

-

'Breaking Bad' (2008-2013)

The violent and gritty drama "Breaking Bad" boasted excellent writing and terrifying villains like Tuco Salamanca. It also reinvigorated Bryan Cranston's career with his portrayal of Walter White, and was a complete 180 from the comedic work he'd done on "Malcolm in the Middle" and "Seinfeld." The show propelled Aaron Paul's career with his Emmy-winning performance as Jesse Pinkman.

-

Scene #9

This fantasy show—which received equal amounts of high praise and brutal criticisms—was often broiled in controversy around the gratuitous gore and sex shown throughout. Even die-hard fans, however, could not defend the butchered final season. Gwendoline Christie's character is forced by her captors into fighting off a wild beast.

-

'Game of Thrones' (2011-2019)

Brienne of Tarth is forced into fighting a grizzly bear by her kidnappers. The wooden sword and dress make this scene particularly demeaning, as Brienne is rarely seen without a coat of armor and a sword at her side. The acclaimed show based on George R.R. Martin's still incomplete fantasy book series, "Game of Thrones" shocked and awed viewers upon its premiere at HBO with plenty of sex, violence, and political upheaval.

-

Scene #10

This anthology series creeps deep into the psyche and paranoia of humans, and often branches into the paranormal. In this famous episode, a boy terrorizes a town with his sinister powers.

-

'The Twilight Zone' (1959-1964)

The episode "It's a Good Life", revolves around a boy who has entrapped a town into obeying his every whim, due to a combination of his godlike powers and infantile nature. "The Twilight Zone," hosted and largely written by Rod Serling, broke barriers with powerful storytelling in each episode that induces fear and anxiety in viewers even to this day.

-

Scene #11

In this long-running series, Mariska Hargitay's character plays a concerned detective worried for a neglected child's well-being, played by a young Hayden Panettiere. The show is known for tackling tough subject matters and is often based on true crime cases.

-

'Law and Order: Special Victims Unit' (1999-present)

Mariska Hargitay plays tough but empathetic SVU detective Olivia Benson, whose commitment to her work can get her into trouble as seen in many episodes of this "Law and Order" spinoff. The show has brought attention over the years tosexual assaultand the often stark reality of the court system's negligence in protecting victims of these crimes.

-

Scene #12

Many viewers feel that the first season of this show was by far the strongest out of its four seasons thus far. Partnered detectives deal with a string of occult killings and attacks while also battling their own personal demons in south Louisiana.

-

'True Detective' (2014-present)

The detectives played by Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey find mysterious drawings in an abandoned church that eerily match the first crime scene visited together in "True Detective." The actors give drastically different but equally captivating performances as detectives who are prisoners to their chosen vices. Despite their differences, the men eventually set their egos aside to find a truth that was under their noses the whole time.

-

Scene #13

The lives of a wealthy family in England and the help that keep their large estate running in the early 1900s mesmerized viewers with stunning cinematography, costume design, and vivid performances.

-

'Downton Abbey' (2010-2015)

The politics and relationships between an aristocratic family and their hired help entranced viewers with nuanced views on class relations, and the series certainly dished out plenty of scandals to keep "Downton Abbey" viewers on the edge of their seats. It's an epic saga of family, chosen family, love, and death wrapped up in a picturesque, Yorkshire-landscaped bow.

-

Scene #14

The red tones in this still remain a theme throughout this mysterious series, which takes place in a small town in Washington. Sherilyn Fenn's character makes a deal as she begins to pull back the veil of the town and her father's secrets.

-

'Twin Peaks' (1990-1991)

Audrey Horn (Fenn) infiltrates One Eyed Jacks, a casino and brothel co-owned by her father and uncle in "Twin Peaks." Director David Lynch's cult series enlists Kyle MacLachlan as Special Agent Dale Cooper, to unravel the strange happenings after the mysterious death of high school beauty queen Laura Palmer.

-

Scene #15

Nobody was above suspicion after the murder of an 11-year-old boy in a small town on the Dorset coast of England. Olivia Colman, pictured, holds the mother of the deceased boy as she struggles to close the case that has devastated the close-knit town.

-
