Russell Brand remains under investigation even after he was convicted of rape and sexual assault, police said.
On Thursday, Nov. 5, Brand was found guilty on one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault following a multi-week trial in London, the Metropolitan Police said.
“Brand’s offending was between 2004 and 2009 and included one rape and three sexual assaults committed against four women,” the Met Police said in a statement. “The offences took place in different locations, including a radio station, the set of a DVD recording and Brand’s home address.”
In a statement to PEOPLE, the Met Police said they are still investigating rape allegations made by two more women.
“The Met’s investigation into allegations of rape made by two women remains ongoing,” a Met spokesperson said. “The suspect has previously been interviewed under caution in connection with the allegations. Files have been submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service in relation to both complainants.”
Police also released footage from four different interviews investigators conducted with Brand between November 2023 and July 2025. In two of the clips, he reads from a prepared statement, in which he claims a “fictitious” documentary broadcast “false” allegations against him.

Brand further said the documentary led to more allegations about other encounters that he claimed were “invented or reimagined.”
The documentary mentioned by Brand is seemingly a reference to a 2023 joint investigation by The Sunday Times, The Times and current affairs show Dispatches.

The news investigation led police to begin investigating Brand, who has maintained his innocence.
Following the verdict, a judge said he intended to sentence the actor and comedian to prison time, per the BBC.
“You’ve been convicted of a number of offenses including rape. The consequence of that is inevitably a significant custodial term,” the judge reportedly told Brand. “My current view is that I therefore have to remand you into custody.”
