Curry went down with a right ankle injury during the team's open practice in San Francisco on Sunday. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr confirmed after that Curry's knee wasn't impacted by the incident, and that "he's fine."

Curry, after bringing the ball up the floor during the open practice at the Chase Center, suddenly rolled his right ankle while handling the ball near the top of the key. Immediately, Curry stopped and pounded the ball down to the court, clearly frustrated.

He limped off as play stopped and walked over to the bench, briefly doubled over, and then went back to the locker room.

While the timing of the injury scare isn't ideal, Kerr said that Curry told him he was fine after the practice ended.

"Always, always," Kerr said when asked if his heart skipped a beat when Curry limped off the floor, via the San Francisco Chronicle's Luca Evans .

"He's fine. I went and talked to him after he went downstairs, and I went into the training room."

Curry averaged 26.6 points and 4.7 assists per game last season, his 17th in the league with the Warriors. Curry only appeared in 43 games, however, and missed a big chunk of the season due to a lingering right knee injury. The Warriors went just 37-45 and missed the playoffs for the second time in three seasons. Curry then signed a two-year, $116 million extension with the Warriors last month.

The Warriors will open the 2026-27 campaign against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night. Though it looked briefly like it may be at risk, Curry appears to still be on track to start the season as scheduled.
