Jenny McCarthy is detailing the “nightmare” health journey she’s been going through.

On the Wednesday, Oct. 28 episode of her podcast, The Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg Show, the 53-year-old opened up about her “insane” two-year struggle with mold and mycotoxin poisoning, which she said all “started with a freaking toothache.”

“Somehow that led me down a rabbit hole of doctors, surgeries, teeth being pulled, mysterious growths popping up in places you are not expecting, implants literally falling out, and eventually realizing my immune system was fighting something so much bigger,” she said. “At one point, you know, I was just so desperate to heal that I literally was living in a tent. That’s right, living in a tent!”

McCarthy explained that in October 2024, she developed a persistent toothache that painkillers didn’t relieve. She visited numerous dentists before being referred to an endodontist for oral surgery. However, the procedure was ineffective due to how infected her teeth were.

The Masked Singer judge said she later developed chalazions, cysts that grow on the eyelids, which one doctor suggested may be “a cancer issue.”

McCarthy said she was “going through medical fatigue” after having what felt like “surgery number 25,500” with no real answers. She said she finally received a proper diagnosis in December 2025.

“I get on the phone with her and she says, ‘Jenny, you’ve got serious mold. You’ve got the type of mold that causes seizures. If this thing crosses the blood-brain barrier, I’m going to be talking to you in hospital. You’re going to start seizing. We’ve got to get on this immediately,’” she recalled.

McCarthy explained that her immune system was “under attack” from the mold and mycotoxin poisoning and was causing her many infections. She said the diagnosis was validating because she was feeling “like a freaking paranoid schizophrenic.”

“I thought everything was poisoning me at this point, because look at me, I was a freaking hot mess, okay?” she said.

McCarthy believes the poisoning was from her Los Angeles home, and has since undergone mold remediation. She’s also been doing a “detox” by taking medications and vitamins, doing infrared saunas daily, therapeutic plasma exchange treatments and more.

“I’m still in my mold detox, you guys. I’m still in it, like, I’m knee-deep in it. I’m in month seven of detox and I’m too paranoid to honestly live anywhere else other than a tent,” she said.

McCarthy admitted that she’s still “paranoid” about her health troubles and struggles with PTSD as she continues to recover.  “I feel a little bit crazy and like the walls are caving in,” she added.
