BBC viewers stated they 'can't wait' for the newest season of Race Across the World which is landing on our screens imminently.

The broadcaster has confirmed the beloved reality programme is back for season 4 and will start on BBC One in its typical Wednesday 9pm slot on April 10.

The announcement has delighted fans of the show, with John Batch on X branding the show the 'neatest thing on TV.'

Echoing John's sentiment, Heléna Davies exclaimed: 'Can't wait! Finally something respectable to observe.'

Ryan Love, meanwhile, instructed everyone to 'mark your calendars' with Race Throughout the World's launch date.

Dozens of other enthusiastic viewers also referred to as news of its return 'sensible' and 'epic' on social media.

The BBC has but to announce the contestants or the route they will travel.

The previous seasons have seen the pairs travel from London to Singapore, Mexico Metropolis to Ushuaia, Argentina, and from one end of Canada to the opposite.

Race Throughout the World season 4 comes after the BBC aired its first movie star spin-off, which saw stars backpacking from Marrakesh, Morrocco to Tromso, Norway.

It starred McFly's Harry Judd and his mum Emma, GMB's Alex Beresford and his dad Noel, All Saints singer Melanie Blatt and her mum Helene and F1 ace Billy Monger and his sister Bonnie.

Alex and Noel have been ultimately topped winners after the 10,000km race, with the presenter remarking at the time: 'It feels implausible. We feel like we're on prime of the world proper now.'

Race Throughout the World sees couples embarking on a visit of a lifetime where they need to travel between two destinations hundreds of miles aside stripped of mod-cons together with phones and the internet.

As an alternative, they need to depend on the kindness of strangers and odd jobs to fund and execute their travels to succeed in the ultimate checkpoint first in document time. Those that are too sluggish get eradicated week by week.

There's also a cash prize up for grabs with previous seasons awarding the winners £20,000.

Another BBC show poised to return, 30 years after it was last seen on display, is large eighties drama Bergerac.

Operating for a decade between 1981 and 1991, the BBC crime drama was set in Jersey and starred John Nettles as the title character Jim Bergerac.

A reboot with a new face in the title role is 'virtually a achieved deal' with an unnamed streaming service stated to be on board.

Race Across The World returns Wednesday 10th April at 9pm on BBC One.
