'General Hospital' Star Tyler Christopher's Cause of Death Revealed | C303H3D | 2024-01-27 23:08:01
General Hospital star Tyler Christopher's explanation for dying has been revealed after he died in October 2023 at the age of 50.
The actor's reason for demise was listed as positional asphyxia because of acute alcohol intoxication, based on a report from the Medical Examiner Office obtained by TMZ on Friday, January 26. Coronary artery atherosclerosis (plaque buildup within the arteries) was listed as a contributing condition.
Christopher suffocated to demise because of the position he was in, which the coroner ruled was because of alcohol use. His dying was ruled an accident.
Information of Christopher's demise was introduced by his former Common Hospital costar Maurice Benard on October 31, 2023.
"It's with great unhappiness that we share the news of the passing of Tyler Christopher," Benard, 60, wrote in a press release by way of Instagram. "Tyler passed away this morning following a cardiac occasion in his San Diego house."
Benard paid his respects to Christopher, calling him a "really gifted individual" before relating the late actor's personal struggles.
"[He] relished bringing joy to his loyal followers via his appearing. Tyler was a candy soul and fantastic good friend to all of those that knew him," Benard continued. "Tyler was an advocate for higher psychological health and substance use remedy who brazenly spoke about his struggles with bipolar melancholy and alcohol. We're beyond devastated by the lack of our pricey good friend and pray for his youngsters and his father."
Extra of Christopher's buddies joined in publicly mourning the actor after his dying, together with his former fiancée and Basic Hospital costar, Vanessa Marcil.
Marcil, who was engaged to Christopher until they cut up in 1999, reposted a Threads statement from Amber Tamblyn, who performed Emily Quartermaine on the ABC collection from 1998 to 2000, that read, "That is crushing news. Tyler Christopher was a beneficiant scene associate who was all the time respectful and fantastic on display and off."
Christopher gained notoriety on Basic Hospital, where he performed Nikolas Cassadine and Connor Bishop from 1996 to 2016. His work on GH led to 5 Daytime Emmy Awards, including his 2016 win for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Collection. He's also remembered for his position as Stefan DiMera on Days of Our Lives from 2001 to 2019, for which he also acquired an Emmy nomination.
The late actor's other credits embrace The Mendacity Recreation, Moon Crash, Thor: God of Thunder and Ice Storm.
